computer making weird noises and its giving me a headache!

I am work and my computer keeps on making this really high pitched noise. It usually does it for a few seconds and then stops but today it just seems to be doing it more and it is ringing in my head and ears. I think I am going to lose my mind if it doesnt stop! Any one know what this could be or how to make it stop?

If is coming from your speakers: -conduct an anti-virus and spyware check -reinstall sound drivers If coming from case: Perform a check to make sure that everything is secure.

yes, I just posted some possibilities, but the possibilty you raised could also be the case. I still believe the best thing to do is to locate exactly where the sound comes from before doing anything.

Actually, I have read all the other comments, and I agree that those are all possibilities. But even though they make claims that those solutions will fix it, that is not necessarily the case. It could be that if your fans are bearing type fans, the bearings are going out. In this case they would need to be replaced. It could also be that the harddrive is wearing out. A high pitched noise is quite often bearings. The best thing to do is remove the cover, turn it on, and listen without touching anything to see exactly where the problem is. And regardless of what the problem is, as long as you have it opened I always recomment a good thorough cleaning.
