Fireworks and Kids Do NOT Make A Good Combination!!

I am all for fireworks, and I enjoy fireworks very much, but it annoys the heck out of me when kids are out lighting them off at all hours of the day and night.
First and foremost kids should not be playing with fireworks as if they were toys to begin with.
Every year since I moved here to Kentucky for the whole month of June and July people (kids mostly) are out lighting fireworks , poppers and whistlers, as much as I love lighting them myself this gets to be highly annoying after two months of having to listen to the screeching sounds of whistlers, and the popping sounds of firecrackers and the like.
And it never fails each year several children are hurt, because of messing with fireworks while not being supervised by an adult or parent. Fireworks are dangerous no matter how one looks at it. And one should never leave their kids unattended when fireworks are involved.
I don't see how the parents out here do it. I would be a worried mess if for only an instant I took my gaze off my child(ren) while he/she/they were around fireworks.
Something should be done about this. What do you think about this issue?

Well thank goodness that we really don't have a problem here anymore...any kind of fireworks is highly illegal now and aren't sold anywhere now...but years ago...OMG...The kids would start blowing up fireworks beginning around May and this would go on until about September...but forget fireworks..that wasn't the problem, the real problem would be those heavy duty things--M80s??? I think that's what they're called...our neighborhood sounded like we were in the middle of a war zone--for all those months, my nerves (as well as everyone else's) would be shot...the least little pop would send me flying to the ceiling...and they'd blow them up all hours
As far as parental supervision...unfortunately maybe it's just plain ignorance and parents just don't realize the potential dangers involved

I remember those things. OMG those things scared the daylights out of me. I was really glad when I heard that they had been banned.
For the most part I can tolerate maybe a night of those whistling things. But it really grates on the nerves when it is two months worth of it. I think I would really end up in a padded cell if it lasted for five months or more. Holy cow, there's no need for that.
I don't see how some people can be so ignorant towards the potential danger of fireworks and leaving their kids unsupervised especially with all the shows about fireworks, and those shows that have shown what can happen when a professionally done firework display goes wrong. I mean really they've had to have caught one of these shows. Also it clearly states on the fireworks packaged and the actual firework that kids should not light without an adult around.
But that could be very well because they have gotten it into their head that it's just something that can't happen to them. *shrugs* just so tired of hearing about kids getting hurt when around fireworks, while being unsupervised.

I don't think that kids should be able to let off fireworks that go up in the air. That's a big no-no! The only thing that I think that kids should be able to play with that has to be lit is the sparklers. And that's with adult supervision. Kids have enough fun watching them being let off so no reason for them to do it themselves.
