Heres a shot of my Honeycrisp Apple tree and a bunch of the apples. There are anywhere from 75 to 100 apples on this tree this year as opposed to 5 last year. It's a new tree being 2 years old only. My oldest grandson is excited and ready to pick them. He asked about the ones all the way up top. I told him how I take a stick with a large can attatched to it, cushioned on the bottom inside the can then hit the apple with the edge of the can and the apples fall in the can. he can't wait to do this it seems. neither can I. HAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

For the life of me I can't remember- do Honeycrisp get red?? Great shot-- We used to have apple, peach and pear trees at our old house- now we only have crab apple trees- Our dog Carmen loves to get the ones on the ground and eat them! An apple picker- I bet picking apples with your grandson will be something he remembers forever!

Red - Starting their color change
Here's a shot I just ran out and took for you. This shows them starting to turn red. They are very tasty as well. My grandson was upset he didn't get an apple last year as we only had 5 and I ate 4 of them. HAHAHA! I am looking forward to the apple picking with them both. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I do have apples like them, too. The tree is more than sixty years old and this year I am going to have thousands of apples. I am thinking of buying a juice maker. My basement it too small for so many apples, even if I can them. God didn`t make little green apples... Remember that song?

Can them. Make pies. Make small tarts. Make jam. Make jelly. Give them as gifts to friends and family. Once mine get that plentiful I will do something with them baking wise etc and give as gifts. yeah I recall that song, God didn't make little green apples and if it don't snow in Indianapolis.... Somtehing along those lines. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

This is a wonderful crop of apples. Make sure yor beagle, or the birds don't eat them. Do you get coddling moth in your apple trees? I rated your photo & wrote a comment. I decided to look for an apple recipe for yuou. I wanted to chose one that would suit your Fathers diet too. Whole Wheat Apple Bread This is a flavored whole grain bread with apple bits, apple juice and apple butter. Prepare sponge: 1/4 cup honey 2 cups apple juice, heated to lukewarm 1 Tbsp. active dry yeast 2 1/2 cups whole wheat bread flour Add to the above and knead then let rise: 2 Tbsp. salt 1/4 cup softened butter 1/2 cup apple butter 1 cup apples, coarsely chopped 2-3 cups whole wheat flour Cut and shape into two 8-1/2" x 4-1/2" loaves. Slit and glaze with butter and sesame seeds for topping. Bake at 350 F for 35 to 45 minutes. Cool thoroughly on wire racks.

Never heard of coddling moth. There are some pests that attack apple trees here but nothing has attacked mine yet. I had a couple little nips taken from birds I'd guess but no apples lost yet to critters. And Buster gets yelled at if he gets near those trees or my veggies. HAHA! Thanks for this recipe also. I'll add it to my collection. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I also have Harlared Apples. I don't know if these turn red or not as this is the first year they bloomed. So we shall see about them later in the month of July. They haven't starting turning yet though. I think they do though but not positive. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
