Heartbreaking evening for me

I have had an unhappy evening. One of my cats came up missing a couple of weeks ago, and I was afraid she'd been killed. That was the first time she'd been outside since I brought her home as a stray. Anyway, this evening around 7:30 pm, my dogs started barking at the door, and I opened up to find her laying there at the door. I was so happy to see her, as I had given up all hope. She was so thin, and couldn't hardly stand, but somehow managed to get up 6 steps to the deck, and flop down in the door. It was pouring down rain, and she was crying, so I picked her up and brought her in, and sat her by the food bowl. She fell over, and I picked her up again and got her a warm box and put a towel in it, and laid her down and sat there and petted her, as I cried and watched her die. It was so sad, I don't know how she ever made it home to me, in the shape she was in, or what happened to her while she's been gone, but she made it home just in time to die. She never lasted more than 10 minutes. This just shows me that animals love, just like people do. I'll never understand as long as I live, how anyone can abuse an animal. I don't know what happened to her, or where she was, I just know, she wanted to be back home, and she finally made it back.

Thank you so much. I still miss her, but at least I know she's not suffering.

Oh brendakaya...I was crying as I read this....it was such a bittersweet touching story....Though the end of it wasn't happy, wasn't it wonderful that in her condition and state she found her way home to you, even if only to spend her last few minutes of life with you....Just goes to show you the unconditional love animals have --thank you for sharing this story...honestly though...I need to get some more tissues

What a pretty cat, and such a sad story. I believe that animals bond too. I believe they have feelings, and can love, just like we do. I know when I'm gone, all my cats and dogs miss me, and I know how happy they are to see me when I come home. I feel more love from them than I do any human. Your black cat in your picture there, looks like my cat, Pesto. He's such a personality, how about yours? He even eats salt and vinegar chips with me.

My "real" Pyewacket is the king of the domain and he's a black cat like the one in my avatar...LOL...I have two cats only now..him and Kissy--they're my kids...When I used to have more cats they used to eat anything and everything...they'd sit and stare at me while eating my food, like as if to say...okay when are you going to give me that..LOL...and forget Thanksgiving...I'd have to get at least a 16-pound turkey..and of course they ate most of it...these two I have now are so pampered now they only eat fancy feast...

I have a bunch of spoiled cats, and dogs. But I'm happier buying stuff for them. I only worry about what will happen to them, when I'm gone. I may see a lawyer about providing for them. In all honesty, I'm not sure I trust most of my family with them. I have one son, that I believe will take good care of them, but probably not as good as I do. They are the reason I go on.

Honey I am so sorry that your baby passed away. She must have wanted to be with her mommy in her final moments. Our pets definitely have as strong a love as we do, no matter what anyone says. It's good that she didn't have to be alone in her final moments. She is now over the Rainbow Bridge with my sweet Meg and all the other pets that are up there running around, and rest assured that she is no longer in pain and that she is now your guardian angel. Love and lots of hugs to you my friend.

Here goes the waterfall again just reading the poem from Rainbow Bridge that I try to avoid reading so as not to cry yet again. We are being watched over by our babies waiting for us to rejoin them later on.

I had never seen that before, it's beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with me. I've lost so many pets over the years, and each one still makes me cry when I think about it. To believe that there may be such a place, is very comforting. Thanks so much again, and lots of hugs to you!

My dear friend how heartbreaking for you. That has to be the saddest thing I've ever read. Your poor darling kitty. She did indeed know where to come and found blessed release in the safety and warmth you provided. This must have been so painful for you. I just wish I could give you a big loving hug. I hope you can feel better soon. xx

No, nothing is safe. But this little one came to you to give and receive love and her mission was accomplished. You did very well. Be happy for the love. Thank you for BR.

Thanks so much. It was definitely one of the saddest days of my life, and as pet lover, I have had many. I think of her so often, and every time I do, I cry. It hurts when I think of what may have happened to her. Nothing is truly safe on this earth, is it?

So very sorry to hear what happened to your beloved cat. She knew where she wanted to die and summoned every ounce of strength she had left to make it back to you, Brenda. Just goes to show that animals return our love for them 2 fold. Could be Lightning tried coming up the steps to our door as well but couldn't being he was paralyzed so instead crawled under our porch. Rainbow Bridge is where she is now along with Meg, Lightning, and all the other animals just waiting for us to rejoin them later.

Thanks so much. You're right, I feel so much love from my pets, and I know they know that I love them. It's very hard to see them suffer, and I know that she suffered alot while she was gone, she looked like she hadn't eaten since she'd been gone. People that don't like cats and/or dogs, just don't know the love they're missing out on, because it truly is special.

Hi Brenda. Just wanted you to know that you are a gift from God and taking in strays is the most wonderful thing you can do..I cried when I read this, and I know it happened 3 months ago, but I am sure it still hurts..You are a very special person and she was lucky to have you and she knew you were worried so she managed to get home to lessen your grief...HUGS to you....

I know some of your heartbreak and i'm sorry, but glad that your cat ended up in your arms. Pets to me become family and it hurts the same as losing a family member, to me. Take care Brendakaya.

This is incredibly sad! I am so glad your cat made it home! My heart aches for the sadness of this. You must of been so loving to that little cat and that is why she had to come back. Maybe someone kidnapped her before and then she was lost trying to find her way home? We had to put ours down a few weeks ago I still miss her! There is something just so comforting about having a cat around. They warm the heart!

Thanks so much, I appreciate you're reply. You're right, I could never imagine living my life without having at least 1 cat. To lose one, is like losing a family member. It's not something that's easy to get over for those of us that love them. They bring so much joy when they're here.
