Thanks for posting! They are really yummy! I think the pollution around the street makes it yummy. And here's a fact: you get sick not because of the food but because of the sauce that you dip. The food is clean because it is cooked but the sauces are not because different people dip in it. They infected salivas can get the sauces contaminated. Just a thought!

When I was going to school, at that time, I was fond of eating street foods. After I joined college and thereafter, I stopped eating foods prepared and sold on streets. Nowadays, I even avoid going to restaurants. I love homefood.

You are very correct. It is mainly unhealthy conditions under which these foods are prepared, I keep away from eating foods on street. But there are restaurants in western countries, where the foods are served on tables set up on footpath. But the entire area is so clean and so nice, it will even raise one's appetite.

I do hope that in my country they'll also do that. If ever they do that for street foods, I'm pretty sure the prices will go up. Most people buy this kinds of foods because it's really cheap and very tasty but when they raise their prices, obviously buyers will be lessened. Most people that buy this foods come from the lower class of our society. Thanks again for commenting!

Thanks for posting! I also do that when I'm going home after school. It can really make you full eating them while spending less. The only risk is that some of the street foods here in our country is very unhealthy because of the poor preparation and the sauces for the foods.

amongst the food choices you mentioned above, i only eat taho. the rest that you mentioned are mostly enjoyed with sauces and unfortunately, i'm not a big fan of sauces or ketchup or gravy or any dip ins. :)

thanks! yes, i'm aware of that. often, street foods are not prepared thru hygienic practices. that's why we must buy from reliable sources. as you said, those with permits. or even those sellers whom you know already. :) i don't eat taho on a daily basis, not even often enough to make it a favorite. only when i feel like eating it. :)

Thanks for your comment myles! Once, I used to buy 50 pesos taho from my suki because my apetite before was so huge. I have a hyperthyroidism or goiter that's why my apetite is so huge. My metabolism is very fast that's why I'm always hungry. This sickness is best for girls because you will get thin and lose so much weight and also have great, smooth skin especially your back. Its true! The catch is that sometimes (case to case basis), your eyes will widen out! Tipong lalaki. Mulat. Anyway, street foods are the best but are risky to eat!

Thanks for replying myles! You should also be warned that taho is still not considered a safe street food because as I have seen in some TV show, some vendors that are selling taho have very unhygienic practices when they prepare their taho evry morning. But, not all of vendors are like this because I have seen some taho vendors in Manila that has a permit dangling in their sticks. This means that they're maybe complying with the health regulations that the city government has imposed.

Thanks for posting! Even though that some find it very dirty, many people are still buying them because of their tastes that keeps people from coming back. I think that even if street foods are dirty, it's really a part of our culture because some of our street foods can only be found in our country even if it's really very exotic and dirty.

i never did that in my entire life. most of the time, they are not done property that they become a source of diseases/illness among the people. To name a few: hepatitis. It is advisable to cook them yourself at home. that way you can be sure that it is prepared and cook properly.

Thanks for posting! I agree with your suggestion because in that way, you are really assured that you eat a clean food being sold in the streets. One thing about it is that you will have to work for the food and spend more for it also. But, you have a very hygienic food compared to those being sold in the streets of Manila or other places in the Philippines.

Thanks for posting together with all those yummy foods! Street foods here in our country are really mouth watering. I don't know why but I think because it's really cheap and uses simple sauces that almost all of us love. It will also be part of our rich culture that will be passed on to many generations to come.

I eat a lot of street foods before. I like kwek, fishball, tokwa, isaw, bbq, pares, and many more. But now I don't eat that much not because it's unhealthy but because their not available here in my place. Just thinking of it makes me hungry :-)

Thanks for posting! It also makes me hungry just by reading your post and also typing this post. They are really unhealthy foods but not all of them. Some are really cooked well and some are really found in decent places. You can still buy these street foods just be very careful of the people that are buying from them. You might get infected by their sickness. The sauces are really the ones that should be looked upon because they are the real carriers of the diseases not the foods itself. Maybe some foods because of the preparation but mostly not all.

Thanks for posting! My gf loves isaw and calamares. They are being sold near our place here in Manila. I don't like the mangga on wheels because their bagoong really taste bad. I just eat those green mangoes when I'm at home with my mom's best bagoong recipe. Very addicting!

Thanks for the post! I also love fishball and kwek kwek but I like squidball than fishball because it's much bigger compared to fishball. I love kwek kwek especially when they are big. While writing this comment, I feel really hungry. I think its advisable to comment on this kind of discussions when your full. Hehehe!

Thanks for posting cefaz_21! I don't think every Filipino eat street foods because I know some people that don't eat them. They think that it's very unhygienic and disgusting. Sorry to offend some people but I know some people who don't eat street foods. Anyway, me myself enjoy street foods and my favorite would also be barbecue because they are the most juiciest and tastiest street food ever. I'm really hungry!!!

I like Pinoy foods but I am not fond of buying it from the street vendors all plying their wares anywhere. I don't know but I am suspecting that most of them are not prepared in a hygeinic way. However, there are times that I really tempted to go along with my friends and likewise splurge these foods.

Thanks for replying! I think what makes eating street foods dirty is the sauce that the vendor offers to its buyers. Buyers share the sauce that's why they become dirty and infected. If the preparation of food is also mishandled, then it's more dirty than you could ever imagine. But the main reason for the sickness is the sauce. Try one if you want! It's really yummy! Just choose the vendor that you think sells hygienic street foods.

Yes i like eating street foods, specially barbecue and isaw (grilled chicken intestine). It tastes good for me. I also love kikiam, fishball and chicken feets. Although some says those were unhygenic and might be a cause of some desease, i just carefully choose the place where i will buy those and make sure the vendor selling those items were fresh.

Thanks for responding! I think that the foods are clean. It's just the sauce that are infected. You don't share the food right? It's the sauce that are contaminated because all people share sauces from the vendor.

Thanks for revising your post! For me, I don't like the idea of just eating and eating anything that's served to me as long as its delicious because I want to know first what food is served to me and how did they prepared it before taking a bite. There are worms that are delicious and edible but I prefer not to eat them.
