My husband wants to by a pit bull puppy. But I have heard so many horrible things about pit bulls. Most people say that they are not safe. I would really like to find out more about pit bulls but would prefer to get more info from actual owners.

Pitbull breeds are wonderful loyal dogs. They are very good with people. They love kids. They can be a lot of responsibility. A person who is thinking of getting a pitbull should take into consideration they need a lot of exercise and discipline. They should be socialized with other animals often so they want become animal aggressive. I have a pitbull and a chihuahua and they play and love each other. I do keep both my dogs in the house. I have had several pitbulls and none have been aggressive toward people or other animals. It is all about how you raise your dog and give them the proper exercise. I hope this helped you.

Pit Bulls are awesome dogs. I have 3 right now & I'm gonna get another one soon. They are not naturally human agressive & are awesome family dogs. They can be agressive towards other animals if they aren't properly socialized as a puppy. You do need to check into local laws though to make sure there are no bans or restrictions on them in your area. If you have any other questions about them, feel free to ask me. I got most of my information about them (when I was researching the breed) from a friend of mine who has raised & bred Pit Bulls for 30 or so years.

Oh, I forgot to mention, to find the best results look up American Pit Bull Terriers. Not Pit Bulls. If you just look up Pit Bulls, you may get all kinds of crap for information. Looking up American Pit Bull Terriers will get you the best information.

My sister owns a pit . . .a 2 y/o girl . . .SWEETEST THING I'VE EVER MET! My sis has 2 kids, ages 1 & 2 and that dog has NEVER even tried anything with the kids, if anything, she protects them. She does NOT like men she doesnt know tho and will act agressive, but has never bitten anyone either. I think it all depends on their pedigree and how they are raised.

PITBULLS ARE ONLY WHAT THEIR HANDLERS MAKE THEM OUT TO BE. SOME PEOPLE ABUSE THE FACT THAT THEY CAN "TRAINN" THESE DOGS TO FIGHT. I THINK IT IS UNCALLED FOR! ALSO I HAVE A PITBULL PUPPY RIGHT NOW AND HE IS WONDERFUL!! HE PLAYS GREAT WITH ANY OTHER DOG, HE LOVES MY 10 MONTH OLD BABY GIRL AND HE IS DEF NOT AGGRESSIVE AT ALL! HE WOULD RATHER BE HELD AND LOVED THEN BE MEAN TO YOU. YOU SHOULD DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THE BREED. ALSO SEE IF U HAVE BAN ON THEM IN YOUR AREA. :) GOOD LUCK AND HOPE I HAVE HEPED YOU OUT A BIT! :)

i love our pit bulls!! they are powerful dogs though so if u are going to get one u need to have ultimate control over them..make sure they know without a doubt that u are "above" them. we had a problem with our chewing everything up but those thick rawhide bones and tennis balls fixed that. i would recommend socializing them VERY WELL with a lot of people, children, dogs, cats, really anything u can...and do all their life. our pit bulls are great with any kids, cats, dogs, and people. they are also very protective over us and the house but we have enough control that if we tell them to come down they snap out of that "gotta get somethin" stage. as long as u know what u are dealing with...a pit bull is a great choice!! watch Cesar Milans show, The Dog Whisperer...he has a lot of rehabilitated pit bulls.

I love watching the Dog Whisperer. Cesar Milan is great with dogs and a godsend for pit bulls and other hard to handle breeds.

My experiences have all been different with pit bulls...I never owned them but have come across several with different environments in which they were raised...one that was sort of neglected and not treated well was indeed vicious, the others were seemingly nice...HOWEVER I have also encounted seemingly nice ones that then decided to grab my uncle by the pant legs and drag him down a hallway trying to eat him....so I guess one never knows? and I am of no help..ha
