With more and more data stored online at "FREE" storage sites. What will happen to this information if the service provider decides to pull the plug.

Normally it is safe because they have this "privacy" policy which protects their users from any form of data theft. You don't need to worry not unless you have a super secret information that you don't want to be discovered.

afaik these free sites are pretty much safe.. if ur site is not an e commerce site or a very well running site with copyighted content u can use these free sites without much concerns apart from downtimes.. :P and if they pull the plug on the server.. all the files on the server can still b accessed by the owner and he may use it for his personal use.. or maybe upload it as his own site later.. this is known 2 happen 2 many sites hosted on the free servers.. its usually given in the terms and contitions of the sites that u give the hosting site rights to ur content or something of the sort almost always... so if the data on ur site is confidential i would recommend u to use a paid server...
