I love spring rolls! In Saipan we call them “lumpia” I make only one kind of lumpia and that is shrimp. I use chinesse brand flour wrapper cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, potatoes, black pepper and of course shrimp. I then wrap it in the wrapper and use egg yokes as a paste to keep them together while frying. I love making it because the cost is low and it is something that I can freeze up to a month. The wrapper and ingredients are so inexpensive, that I can afford to make them each time I run out…..lol How about you, how do you make your “lumpia”?

My husband love spring rolls but he is a vegetarian so i just made lumpia with all vegetables.I use the filipino lumpia wrapper, cabbage, mushroom, carrots, black pepper, salt and soysauce.I wrap it with the wrapper then paste it with water only coz my husband doesn't like the egg.Your right!it is inexpensive.

I, too, like spring rolls. The ingredients are expensive where I live and I would not know how to make them. I do not have a recipe and this is considered specialty food here. They were introduced to us around 1970, frozen. I think the Dutch ate them before the came to our market. The Dutch call them lumpia. We always get them frozen. There was only one kind that contained two big lumpias, then they made them with and without chicken. They really became expensive, at first they were cheap but now they are expensive and I do not buy them often any more. Now there are even more varieties on the market and they sell big ones and mini lumpias, too.

I don't really know how to make spring rolls. I eat and get spring rolls fro this restaurant close to my house. It's a very good place. They have the best spring rolls and sauce. They are very tasty.
