What's the craziest thing you've let your kids eat at breakfast?

My doctor always said it didn't matter what the kids ate for breakfast as long as they ate it. So if they wanted hot dogs, let them have hot dogs. For the most part my kids always have a healthy breakfast, I usually get up and make them eggs, pancakes, whatever. Rarely do they have cereal and if they do it's something like Raisin Bran or Cheerios. I have to say though they have eaten hot dogs, leftover pizza, things like that on occassion. THis morning they wanted popcorn, so that's what they had. I can hear my mother lecturing me on bad parenting right now. LOL But we were gone until 10pm last night for our last soccer games, I have a ton of housework to do today, I'm tired, and tomorrow I'm having 10 11 year old girls stay all night for the end of year soccer party. Plus my birthday is Tuesday and I want all the housewrok done so I can go out and have a good time while the kids are gone! Nothing worse than trying to clean house with a hangover. So what have you let your kids get away with eating for breakfast?

Neither one of my kids are very big breakfast eaters, unless someone goes out and buys them breakfast which doesn't happen on a regular basis. I do keep the usual breakfast items, but that rarely temps them. They tend to want sweet things first thing so I have caught them eating cookies, cake and even cold pizza. Frankly, I feel the same way you do. I think breakfast is important because it gets you going in the morning so whatever works for them, works for me.

lol- popcorn- My daughter has never asked for that- Usually she eats whatever she wants- which is bacon and eggs, French toast, cereal, cocoa and toast, bagels. We have on several occasions had cold pizza- that is one of my favorite breakfasts- She almost always has fruit too. I agree as long as she has something to eat- and I usually make sure it is healthy!

This morning my girls were asking for jello pudding snacks. Sure, why not--it's full of calcium, right? Usually, they go for cereal, or waffles. The cereal is unsweetened. When we went on vacation, though, I purchased a box of capn crunch crunch berry cereal. I don't think anyone can eat it... it's so incredibly sweet! Oh, they have been known to pull out a bag of baby carrots from the fridge and eat until their bellies are full (or the carrots gone!) :)

Our eight year old can't stand any kind of breakfast food. We have tried cereal, eggs, pancakes, waffles. You name it we have tried it. So we just keep whatever her favorite foods on hand. She eats macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, can pasta. Her favorite thing to eat for breakfast is a beef and bean burrito.

Pizza Tacos maybe left overs from night before It would depend on their mood lol. But then there is the ceral ,french toast eggs andf bacon for good breakfast. I read some where that the kids will make up for what is right within a week for their health so guess it didnt hurt once in awhile

For one of my son's birthday sleepovers, the kids had leftover cake for breakfast. One of the kids came into the kitchen and asked for a peice of cake, and I was about to tell him I was going out to get donuts for breakfast when I realized that donuts are the same as cake!! So I said "SURE!!! Cake for breakfast!!!" I was the best mom that day! They usually had eggs, pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, something like that.

I always cook my children breakfast or give them cereal, but growing up my Mother was a single parent and always very busy working that often times she feed me pizza, chocolate cake or bologna sandwiches, I used to think I had the coolest Mom. I know now that she was so busy with her life that she did not have time to cook for me so this is all she could do.

I can't think of anything too weird, I have let my little boy eat popcorn a few times =) And my daughter...she wanted Ramen noodles once, so I fixed them up for her. There are certainly some days where I don't want to fight so I let them eat whatever they want. And with my son not eating much any time of day, when he wants something I give it to him, unless it is candy all day long =)

Hello, soccermom! I knew you were a Cancer! Me, too. And I am married to one, which they say not to do (like so many people were beating down my door to marry to marry them!) LOL Anyway, Happy early Birthday. I didn't have any choice one day because the cupboard was bare. I found a frozen hamburger bun and Kool Aid! I toasted the bun, threw margarine on it, and fed him that for breakfast! He was in the third grade at the time and I told him not to mention to anyone at school what he ate for breakfast, that that would be our little secret. Anyway, on the way to taking him to school, I looked over at him and he had this HUGE red Kool Aid moustache! Dang, I thought, now everyone at school will know I gave him Kool Aid for breakfast! And then I did something I SWORE I would never do: The ol' spit on the thumb and clean his mouth routine! YUK! I swore when I was a kid and my Mom would do that to me that I would NEVER EVER do that to my children if I ever had any! But I was eating my words and trying to wash away the "evidence" with a Mom spit bath!

At least one of my kids get a spit bath daily! LOL I let my 4 year old have nachos for breakfast once and she ratted me out to my MIL. Needless to say when they are going there in the morning I make sure they have a "normal" breakfast!

I remember one of my grade school teachers said that one of her kids liked cheerios with 7-up on it... I also had a friend who liked ketchup on everything, but the day I saw him put ketchup on his ice cream I thought I was gonna toss my cookies!!!

Leftover cold pizza was a big breakfast favorite in my house. I knew if wasn't very good as far as breakfast goes but it was something they could eat and run as they were always running late.

I guess i"m old school, I often try to prepare healthy breakfast for my kids believing that it is the most important meal of the day. I do not want them to go to school with empty stomach fearing they might not be able to do their work at school. But the worst I gave them for breakfast so far was ice cream.
