A few nights ago me and a friend was discussing the differences between cellphones now and a few years back. They seem to be alot more resistant these days. I remember I had a phone that I just spilled some water on a few years back and it stopped working. A few months ago i dropped my brand new cellphone in the toilet, and even though it is not supposed to be water resistant it is still wroking. I picked it up and let it dry out =) (ofcourse there was nothing but water in the toilet) So have you ever dropped your cellphone in water? Did it fmunction after that?

I think some are more resistent than others, a year ago my boyfriend dropped his cellphone in my drink and it stopped working but our son dropped his in water and then put it in the a towel and the dryer and it started working again, amazing, never thought the dryer thing would work, thought it would destroy the cell phone but then again there I go thinking :)

I never though that my cellphone would work when I saw it at the bottom of the toilet, but it is just fine =)

I dropped my cellphone in concrete... They where pouring the foundations for a new building, and I was having a look... When I bent over my phone dropped out of my shirt pocket and fell in the concrete.... I never saw it back, so I don't know if it is still working. Surely in about 50-60 years, when they break down the building they will find it... Maybe they can even find my contactpersons in it.... It will be industrial archeology... LOL !

I had a somewhat different situation. I had just moved and my co-workers were throwing a party. I didn't know very many people yet but they were really cool in letting me hang out with them, and they invited me to a party at another co-worker's place. When I get to the party, two of the guys who worked in my department bum-rushed me and screamed "NEW GUY!" then proceeded to pick me up and toss me into the pool, fully-clothed. My cell phone, of course, was still in my pocket. Working at an electronics store, it was cool cause I got a replacement phone anyways, a better model, but it was crazy when it happened.

I did, and I mentioned it to a couple of friends, and it appears that everybody's cellphone ended up in the toilet bowl at one time or another. Maybe it's something subconscious LOL, we all seem to be enslaved by the phone, cell or other, nowadays. Honestly, how often have you answered the phone while on the toilet? Privacy seems to be a thing of the past.

MY husband dropped his in the toilet too once LOL and it did work as soon as it dried. I think water is not too bad. Other things create a bigger problem. My kids dropped coke over my cell last year. I didn't even notice it since when I came back it had dried up already. However in a few days I started having problem charging it. It wouldn't charge or when it did it wouldn't take long to be empty again. After a week I wasn't able to charge it at all. I took it to the place where I bought it and when they opened it they said there was nothing they could do. I kept the phone because I liked it, and every once in a while I tried to turn it on. Just last week my daughter tried it and it charged. So I just called the company and asked if I could still buy a card for it - it was a pay as you go - they said yes and I'm using it again without a problem:)

LOL I guess it did :) I think it was the sugar from the coke that was creating the problem but with time everything ends up breaking up I suppose, even sugar, so after one year there was no more residue or something. WEll, as long as my favorite cell phone is working, I'm fine with it hehehe

I had an old phone which got soaked in coke. The phone got busted and was never to run again. We tried getting it fixed by a professional technician but even they could not rectify the damage done to the circuits. I never had my phones wet ever since. Cheers!

Hello,marie2473,i seldom bring my cellphones to the bathroom, when i go to have shower at home,i will just leave my cellphone at my bedroom because i do not have many calls in a day, even i do,i can still get back to them when i see the missed calls. I think if the cellphone is dropped into water, most probably,it will not work properly after that.

yes I have tried dropping a phone in the sea but accidentally, its not mine ha ha! It was my friend's phone. We were on our exposure trip and then, her phone is on my neck [with a strap], I went to the sea shore and then played with some of our classmates, threw some sand at each other like a child and then the fun begins there. The phone got off my mind and then I accidentally fell off the sea and then whoossh! the phone got sunk into the water ha ha! of course, it got wrecked, malfunctioned and everything but after a week, it was assembled again, thanks God hihi!

I never dropped my cell phone in water. I was very cautious. My first mobile was very sturdy, then I got a very slim one that was too fragile. It just fell off a cofee table and was broken. I was very unhappy. It even fell on carpeting and it was not to be used any more the technician in the store said. So I got myself an outdoor cell phone again that is sturdy and that I am happy with. No, I will not test it if it is really water resistent. I just wanted one that lasts.

I did..I inserted my cell in my back pocket and when it dropped into the toilet bowl! It almost went directly down..I immediately grabbed it, turned it off and disassembled everything. I let it dry for a few hours and yeah, i still use it and it works fine!

I had a motorola razr that had a very traumatic life. Last summer I was drunk and trying to pee in a lake (I know, gross, but I didn't have any toilet paper, so I figured this was the best option. My sister, who was drunk as well, pushed me into the water. My phone was in my pocket. It still continued to work. I went to the lake almost every day that summer, My phone was encrusted with sand. The screen was hardly readable because the sand scratched it so much. About a month ago when we were on vacation we were at the pool. My 2 year old was sitting on the steps. Three adults were standing behind her. All of a sudden she stood up and dove into the water. It was too deep for her, even though we were in the shallow end. I was closest, so I jumped in to grab her. My cell phone was in my pokcet and got soaked again. It didn't work at first, but we took the battery out and let it dry, sure enough it started working again. About 2 weeks ago my husband found my cell phone. It, again, was in my pocket. He did a load of my clothes, and didn't bother to check the pockets. Well, my cell phone doesn't work anymore, LOL. I guess it went through all of it's 9 lives. On a side note, I do not recommend soaking your cell phone in liquid fabric softener either. They generally do not work when this is done. :o) And, yes, I do carry insurance on my phone, so that I can get it replaced every time I mess it up, LOL!!!!

Hi, I have an old ericsson mobile called a tradesman, it has a shark fin antenna. It has been dropped in water and paint, it was designed to be rugged and it certainly is. After having the phone slip out of a pocket and into a big pot of paint, it was then washed under a tap. No worries.

My daughter has the bad habit of dropping her phone everywhere. Well, it turns out that one day last year, she dropped the cellphone in the toilet and it stopped working. I let her use my cellphone and then I let the cellphone dry out for a week or so and then I tried it and it started working. I gave the cellphone back to her so she could use it (and so I could get mine back), but after a few weeks, she called me to say that her cellphone stopped working. I let it dry out, but I haven't tried it again. She has gone through three cellphones since then.

Okay- so I am soooo guilty of this!!! I have dropped my phone in the toilet twice and in milk (was eating cereal one night when phone rang) once. I have always just sat it out taken apart and let it dry- it has ALWAYS come back to life as I liek to put it....lol

Actually never because I am careful with it. If I am any body of water, then I don't bring my cell phone with me. I fear that my cell phone would get ruined or break if I bring it near any body of water. This is why I never dropped my cell phone in water before
