I think I may be the only person on Earth who enjoyed this movie. The movie was inspired by the successful British TV series of the same name in the 1960's. The two main characters, premise, and situations in the movie were based on the most popular years of the Avengers TV show. I'll be honest: this is certainly not an Oscar award winning film. There are huge differences between the film and the TV series. Some would argue that the film wasn't a faithful adaptation of the TV series and the characters weren't portrayed accurately. These comments are probably true. However, the film is silly, fun, and does have it's good moments. I particularly like Fiennes's portrayal of John Steed: he's talented, handsome, and clever, but there's always just a hint of sadness and longing to him which is appealing. Thurman's Emma Peel does not match Diana Riggs's version of the character, but Thurman does have good moments. Finally, the movie is brain candy and fun to me. What do you think?
