Would you consider a cruise for your next vacation?

Apart from the fact that they're really expensive for the most part, I could never be sure that they had enough Dramamine for me :) No, really it sounds great and appealing but I"m not sure if it would be for me. Or maybe I just don't have enough money for it and I"m just finding excuses to feel ok for not going LOL But many people choose cruises for their vacations and enjoy them immensely. So what your take on this one? Would you ? Or wouldn't you ?

I used to think a cruise would be so fun and exciting...but I have never gone on one and don't think I will ever!! Although all of the activities would be wonderful and the food is no doubt excellent on most cruises, I am all too aware of the potential for the Norwalk or "cruise" virus...I know this is silly...but so many that I know have gone on the cruise only to spend 5-6 days in the infirmary with the dreaded virus..With flying at least you are usually only confined for up to 14 hours with people...whereas a cruise it is days or weeks...the longer you are on it the more chance of getting sick...so I will miss out on the cruises...and let everyone else tell me how fun they were!!! I had the horrible experience of meeting someone the day they left a cruise ship and my grandson, pregnant daughter and myself all got the Norwalk virus and my daughter was hospitalized and I had to be given fluids 2 times in one day...so my point is murky...you can even get it when you don't go on the cruise!!!! But I will just stay away from those that are fresh off the ship from now on!!! They hadn't even gotten sick themselves before they passed it on to us!!! It resulted in my daughter having to be induced in her pregnancy and the baby being very premature as she was so sick they were afraid of the baby losing it's life...I guess we just had a really bad experience so it would take a lot to get me to forget it!!!

Oh my, with an experience like that I wouldn't want to go either :) Cruises are not the only ones affected in that sense. Many travelers suffer from it and often it has to do with different foods as well as the tap water in the countries visited. It does happen quite a lot when traveling in the Caribbean , but also in any other countries in general. People that live there are used to it and don't get sick but outsiders are not so they will get sick.

Most people say it is wonderful, and it has to be , in a way. I would be worried about getting sea sick. I know they have medication for that, but I wouldn't want to be on medication for the whole cruise:)

One of the thing with cruises is that they are so structured that sometimes people feel rushed to things that they might not have choose to do otherwise, but since it's being offered they go ahead and do it. Personally I think I prefer choosing a place I want to be in and stay put :) Or choose an itinerary to my own tastes and follow it. But it could be because I dreaded being sea sick LOL

I just did my first cruise in April - it was AWESOME!!! Worth every penny!!! One of the girls that went with us does get seasick, but she went to the ships doctor the first day and they gave her something that worked wonders for her!! She had a great time also.

My mom and her friends have gone on many cruises, and my mom loves to tell me about how much fun they have had on them, and how delicious and beautiful all the food is. I would like to go on one at some point, but that's a bit out of our budget right now. Maybe when my fiance and I get married, I will be able to convince our parents to chip in towards us going on a cruise for our honeymoon. We would probably take a cruise to Alaska, though, because that's much closer to us than the Caribbean is. :)

I have been travelling on several big vessels and smaller ones, too. I do not get seasick. I think the service, the food and the accomodations are great. I would love to travel this way again. Right now I do not have the time, maybe next year. I also would like to book a tour around the world on a freight ship. I think this is very interesting, too.

SInce you don't get sea sick then it certainly would be a great thing to do. I"m not sure of how sea sick I would get. I get sick by riding 5 minutes in a car sometimes. I can't go on a swing or a carrousel. But I travelled to Brazil from Portugal on a ship twice when I was a kid and didn't get sea sick, so I'm not sure. ON the other hand, just to be on the safe side, I probably would think twice.. or more before deciding on a cruise.

I definitely would consider a cruise for my next vacation as I have always wanted to go on a cruise. It would depend if I could afford to go on one though. My next vacation is to North Carolina but somewhere in the future I do want to go on a cruise, maybe to Alaska. My parents have been on a cruise and loved it very much and am sure I would have a blast. Some people are scared to go on boats but not me.

No, I would not even consider it..I am afraid of the water and have never been on a boat, it really just would not interest me.

Go! Cruises are great. My partner has motion sickness but the ship was quite huge and cantalevered so that there was hardly any feeling of movement. We absolutely loved our first cruise and hope that someday we can take another. I loved being waited on at every turn. Look for a good bargain, maybe go with a group at group rates. That's what we did and it was grand.

Sea and islands - sea and islands
I sure would consider it, I could imagine the destinations, what I'd see the nice suntan wile experiencing different cultures, but that's just it I can only consider and dream about it as I don't think I could even take a vacation where I live lol, I mean just go to a hotel nearby and relax lol nop no money. But if I ever do I'm sure I'd love to try it, I'd love to travel a lot if I ever manage to save up money for it, and cruising must be real neat, maybe see some dolphins, I love them, maybe even some other larger sea mammals, you never know. But until then all I can do is fantasize about it. And if the day does come I'll pack a lot of seas sick pills just encase, don't want to spend the all time barfing into a bag if I discover it's too much for my stomach.

Yes of course I would. This is one thing my fiance and I want to do when we get married for our honeymoon. We want to travel the world if we could and maybe one day we can get that chance. It is tons of money but to us it is well worth it. -Lora

hey there.. i really would love to go on a cruise.. it's just that, i really cant afford to go anytime soon. I had friends who have gone on cruises and really recommend me to go.. they said.. it doesn't even feel like you're at sea. I would love to go, but I don't want to go alone. But the expenses for traveling in a pair/group is just too much.. Hopefully, one day i get to go on one, though.. :)

It sounds nice but it's likely that we won't have a cruise for the vacation. Because we don't have so long time vacation. We can't afford long time to spend on the ocean. I like to do so when one day we are very rich:) So at that time we both have money and time to enjoy this kind of travel.
