Does anyone know how to get a bad smell out of suede?

Once I owned a nice suede jacket and the cat decided that he wanted to pee on it. And, when I tried to dab it off with water, the jacket got a huge water mark on it. Needless to say the jacket was ruined.
Later my cat did the same thing to our suede couch.
I sprayed the couch with Febreze. But, it never smelled right after that.
Just in case this ever happens again, I'd like to be prepared.
Does anyone know how to take stains or odors out of suede and other materials that can't be washed?

There are special cleaners you can get for suede furniture. I think you can get them at pretty much any furniture store. My mom has to keep a stock of this cleaner because she has a suede couch and 3 cats and 3 dogs. It works pretty well. I'm not sure what's in it though.

I would love to get the name brand of the cleaner your mom uses on her suede furniture. Do you think that would be possible? We are always having kitty cat incidents with our good furniture and I can't afford to buy a new couch everytime one of the cats is acting up.

Ugh, so sorry to hear about that.
Depending on what the object is, you might want to look into having it professionally cleaned. Of course this isn't cheap, but it's the best way to deal with smells, or stains that might otherwise ruin your expensive items.
Perhaps you can also try airing it out for a but. I did that with a leather jacket that had seen a bad night at the bar, and it seemed to be ok after a few days out i nthe fresh air.
Good luck!

Honestly, if I could go back in time and have the suede jacket professionally cleaned I would, because it cost a small fortune. And, I've never gotten a replacement since it got ruined by the cat incident. Thanks for the advice, I will remember your tip for next time.
