I feel the same way, cameron. I really think that Isaiah was treated unfairly. Grey's was in my top 3 shows until this happened. Now I will not continue to watch it without his character. His and Christina's storyline was my favorite. I just saw him in the Larry King interview where he broke down. It is unacceptable for such a fine actor to have been treated this way. Especially since he made a public apology, followed by a public service announcement.

Message received, mkirby. You still cannot convince me though that a person should not have the right to speak their mind on whatever subject they choose. As one of my favorite talk show hosts on the radio always says, freedom of speech was written into our constitution not for nice and agreeable things that might be said, but for things that are unpopular and controversial. I agree wholeheartedly with that. Why should a person be hypocritical and pretend that they go along with anything that they do not? I don't care about political correctness. It is just a tool manufactured by a certain segment of the population in order to suppress free speech.

I liked his storyline as well. I think the public service announcement was a PR move, nothing more. Did we see the same Larry King interview? Maybe I'm too cynical.

It is not about his being homophobic that cause hi job. His contract expired and was never renewed. it is the right of every produce/businessman to renew the contract or not. It is not the call of Mr. Washington. He always do that gay slur, and ask for forgiveness. He did it twice already. Do you think he has the right to hurt other people's feelings?

I very much doubt he will be back. He's shot mouth off one too many times and now he's claiming he was fired because of rascism?! I think he's burned his bridges and we will not see him back on Grey's. I liked his character on Grey's too, but don't have much respect for Isiah Washington as a person because of things he's said and done recently.

i don't think he will be back on grey's after everything that has been said and done by both parties against each other. it's a pity that washington had done his share at showing his remorse for what he supposedly did, but i don't think that the prodecers of the show has measured adequately the sencerity of his apologies - they don't seem to have the same plans for his career, and i feel for washington's sentiments that he was like being dumped with no justice at all. pity, because dr. burke's character is one of the most exciting ones put on tv.

I really don't think he has much of a chance. However, since it was O'Mally he was shooting his mouth off about, he might have a chance to come back since it looks like George won't be back next season either since he failed his test. Who knows. I think other casts members had problems with him as well. I know one instance that he chewed out Patrick Dempsey for being late one day, when it's clearly not his place. I think he just had a temper all around.

What a hsame this whole thing is. Isaiah Washington is a fabulous actor. He has now beeen fired over this unfortuante incident. Who knows who's lying and who is telling the truth? The fact is, a great show is going to be ruined now-- because Burke was the BEST character on the show! I wish they could have resolved it all...

He has been fired from the show. In his interview with Larry King, he said that Shondra Rhimes (I hope I spelled her name correctly) phoned him to say he was fired. Also in that interview, he claims that when he used the infamous f-word, he was referring to himself as a weakling, and not using it as a slur against T.R. Knight. He claims he and Patrick Dempsey had had a blowout which led him to use the word. He claims T.R. Knight "misrepresented himself" when he went on the Ellen show and accused Washington of calling him a f*****. When I watched the interview, I wanted to believe Washington. I was impressed that he didn't really slam anyone, but when asked about calling T.R. Knight that word, I noticed his mouth twitch, and he looked down as he responded to King. I don't believe everyone is telling the truth.

Yes, he was fired. But there's not difference in being fired and a contract not being renewed. Either way, he was let go.
