Do you like Christmas?

I know that right now we're really far away from christmas, but because of that it's less "typical" if i ask this to all of you. Do you like Christmas? what are your opinions about it? I personally don't take it much as a religious event, since i am not super religious myself, but i like christmas because it's a great excuse for the whole family to get together, specially for those who live far away from the rest of their families. Just for that, it's great...and well for kids it's cool too LOL...all the presents and such. What do you think about Christmas?

I don't like Christmas. I LOVE Christmas! I, too, don't think about it in the religious sense and not because I am or am not religious myself but because it's just not how I think about it. I think it's more than just a religious holiday...because it's really a holiday about belief, which is exactly what religion is...a belief. I love the atmosphere of Christmastime. I love the lights and the decorations and the music and the movies. I love that everyone is nicer to each other than they were before hand. I love that you can go into a store and for once have the cashiers tell you to "have a happy holiday" when you're purchasing something because any other time of the year it's amazing to get them to even smile and/or greet you. I think people just seem to be happier around Christmastime...I think people seem friendlier. I don't like the gift giving aspect of Christmas. I hate the stress it causes on both the giving and the receiving end. I just love the atmosphere. I Think it's the one time of year when most people come together and are nice to each other and it's nice to have that even if it's only once a year.

I think the most important thing to do around christmastime is to get in the spirit of it. Don't stress about family or presents or anything and just enjoy it as a happy time no matter what.

yes, i agree with you. of course i like christmas, because this is the time you get the chance to be with the whole family and even friends. giving gifts are cool...but you know it's tiring. every year you need to buy lots of gift for the whole family and friends..even officemates and you have to wrap all those..ahhh, that's really tiring. But it's a good feeling when you see that everyone appreciated your gift after all. Christmas is really special for me not because of the belief that it's the birthday of jesus, but also because it was my time to spend time with my family and friends...forget about the work and have a good time with them. and it's cool!

i'm an eastern guy and i don't have the habit of going through christmas, but today here maybe because of many foreigners came here, they brought the customs of christmas here, the way of spending christmas is novel to me, so i'm just curious about their habit and follwoed it. so i think i like it.

Yeah, i suppose it's really different when most people in your country don't celebrate christmas since it's a different religion and culture. thanks for sharing.

We usually don't celebrate christmas as a festival but do enjoy it. I mean: we are not christians and so we do not celebrate it. But when I was in school I used to get around 15-20 days holidays for christmas and so I liked that time. Ours was a missionary school and so along with our festivals they used to give holidays for christmas which was the prime festival for them(father and nuns). But now I am in college and get only 1 day holiday...sigh.....hehehe....

LOL! Well - yes - you are a little early! But my answer is a very miserable - NO - I hate it!!! I am a real Scrooge character - "Christmas - bah humbug!" On a religious level it means nothing to me as I am not in the slightest bit religious, and, to me, all it seems to be is this huge, pseudo, comercial hype where people pay money they can't afford on stuff no one really wants, and people regularly go into damaging debt for it. I totaly loathe it (bet you wish you hadn't asked now!), - and breathe a huge sign of relief when the whole thing's over for another year! Maybe if it only came round every 5 years I might like it better!

I like christmas because like you said its a chance for everyone to get together. I have a very large family and it is hard to always see everyone but we make it a point to get together at christmas to talk and reunite!
