Don't You Hate When People Purposely Misspell Word?

I am not talking about hear on Mylot, because we all do the best that we can. I am talking about in media ads and such. The ones that are trying to get your attention. For instance, one of my favorite movies is the "Pursuit Of Happyness," but everytime I write the title, I realize that I am spelling the word wrong. There are ads that do this commonly now and it is frustrating. When you have kids that are learning how to properly spell a word and they see things like that, they think that it is spelled correctly and somehow you have to convince them that although it was in print, that is not the correct spelling for the word.

Ha! I know what you mean. I love the 'Pursuit of Happyness' too, but the spelling threw me off for a minute. I can't stand to see things spelled wrong purposely. I guess because I'm trying to become a writer and it really bothers me.

You and I have way to much in common and it is starting to scare me. I too am trying to get into the writing industry. I have been writing poetry since I was eleven years old. I started writing short stories in more recent years. I also wrote a book once, but is wasn't a good one for many reasons. Anyway, this is so cool.

We do, don't we? It's amazing how you can find people here that you really connect with.:) You start good discussions too...always a plus.

I have to agree with you about kids learning from what they see. One thing that really irks me is 'text type' - like l8r instead of later and ne1 instead of anyone. If you are texting that's fine but when kids start writing like this it sets a really bad example for the younger ones that are just starting to read or write. The media doesn't stop to think about what they are doing or the influence they have on people - especially kids.

Yes, I hate it when people mispell words on purpose because it makes me feel that they are fools. It not only makes them foolish but it sounds retarded and it is quite annoying. They should look up a word in a dictionary before they make the attempt to spell it.
