Has anyone else read this one yet? I always get excited when I find a new one at the library!
It starts out with a normal guy (our hero, Tim) having a quiet beer after work. Then, a stranger starts talking to him, and passes him a manilla envelope. He tells him that it's ten thousand dollars...and he'll get the other half "when she's gone." Before he can rectify the mix-up, the guy that thought he just hired a hit man is gone.
But that's just the start of Tim's problems. Right after the first stranger leaves, another guy comes in...and...you guessed it, mistakes Tim for the guy who is going to pay him to take care of a problem. Tim lets him believe that, and tells him he's had a change of heart. He gives him the ten thousand dollars to leave the girl alone. But, it's a no-go, and that sets the pace for this fast paced thriller!
If you like Dean Koontz' work, this is another good one!

...but only cuz you are the only response after a year, lol! Just wondering why you'd bother answering if you hadn't read it?
