What would you have done if you were this boy's parent?

There was a little trouble at work today, A boy of about 7 or 8 pushed a smaller kid down, and when the other child's mother told him to be more careful, he swore at her and kicked her. So the woman brought the kid up to customer service and had the mother paged. She wanted an apology from the boy. Instead, the mother rounded on the other woman and told her that she would not make her kid apologize because she doesn't believe in punishing children in public. so, now I guess the kid thinks he can do whatever he wants.
Now, if that was my son, or grandson, he would not only have been made apologize, but he would have gotten a few smacks on his bottom, for being rude to his elders!
What would you have done?

I can't even imagine my kids behaving this way to strangers. This isn't to say that my kids are perfect kids they aren't. But what this kid did...that's pretty darn bad.
If my child were to do that. I'd be mortified, to say the least. I would certainly make my child apologize and would follow up with some type of punishment. I'm not sure what the punishment would be.
As far as not punishing kids in public. I often say to my kids that if they can embarass me in public, I can embarass them right back.
Sometimes the threat of public humiliation does wonders for making your kids behave! lol
Kids hate it when mom gets a little loud in public.
I hate to make a scene in public and sometimes I have been guilty of letting my kids get away with some minor things for the sake of not making a scene.
But, if they get too far out of line, I will deal with it then and there.

If that was my kid. Not only would he have gotten his mouth washed out for swearing. He would have also not been able to sit for a month. Oh no, make that a year. But of course that is part of what is wrong with our kids these days. They have parents that are just as bad and could careless how thier kids act.

If that was my kid I would have made him appologize, spanked his bottom and took him home and he would have been grounded. I will not tollerate that kind of behavior from any one especially my own kid.

Oh my! My child would have had the redest little bottom around!! I can't believe she didn't punish that child!!!!
But that's how parents are behaving lately - completely not parenting their children....

i would do just as you would unfortunatly parents today are allowing anti social behaviour to be accepted !
