How neatly do you keep your work table?

How messy is your table? - Is your table as messy as mine?

I have been chucking whatever I took home on my table once I entered the room. It can be mails, notices or even newspapers and books. As days passed by, the stack get higher and higher as I only pile on but never removed or reshuffled. When I need something, I will rumble through and pick what I wanted. The pile may move horizontally, from one pile to become two piles and it becomes orderly disorganised. Perhaps I am a inborn disorganiser, I manage to find what I find from the piles. However, if they are organised orderly, I have problem finding what I wanted. Hence, I prefer to leave my table messy. Friends, what about you? Is your table as messy as mine? How neatly do you keep your table? Do you dislike a messy table and will try to get it as organised if possible? Or are you like me who thrive better with messy tables? Kindly share your thoughts. Thanks.

Oh no bighead. You are in serious need of my professional help. You do remember I charged a high fee? Just holler me anytime and I will readily hop in to your desk to mess it more, LOL. I CAN'T STAND anything that's untidy. I can actually feel an impending headache just by reading your thread. I like to see my desk polish up and real shiny. Its easier for me to find anything I need. :P

Aww bighead. I can negotiate a fair price for you. :P I wonder how many mountains you needed to climb just to find your things, LOL!

I cannot afford to pay your high fees :p I have an offer to organise it free of charge for me but I rejected it. If you are here to make it more messy, I welcome but you might have to find what I wanted for me. I only know how to find my way round the mess I have created. lol.

I do keep my table, both in my office and at my home, always neat and tidy. I dont feel like working when I see my desk not properly arranged. So, the first job I do everyday before starting my work, is to clear up the unwanted things at my desk, clear my cabin and dust up the desk. Only then, I can happily sit down for my work. Having the desk clear, also helps me out in easily locating the documents and files I need, at the time of urgency.

Lately I have been using our dining table as my work table LOL since its just my son and me, we have been eating in the lounge (yes bad habit LOL). I had all our mail spread out and junk too = i am slowly going through our files and reorganising our personal things, some of which I have to dump as its no longer needed. I usually just shove it in a box and hide it in the closet but then it doesn't get dealt with, so I decided to spread it all out on the dining table to sort out and rebox/file them. I have started and it's still sitting here weeks later LOL I'll get to it though!

Hmmm, throw it into a box. Perhaps I should do that and my table will be empty. Yippee. Charms, sorry. I do not have to engage you anymore :P

If you are just asking about messy or tidy, then mine would be tidy. I like keeping things in order so everything has a place. I don't like it when people are so untidy.

Yes, my work space is very messy. When I can't find something that I absolutely have to have, then I know it's time to clean, purge and organize. Until then I sit with the mess of camp, college, school, bills and other assorted papers. Also, when it begins to pile up so high I can read the computer monitor, then I know it's time to clean.

I used to put papers under my keyboard in office, but to pile it high until it reaches the computer monitor, I cannot imagine it, unless your keyboard is at the keyboard tray below the computer table, and not sitting on par with the monitor.

mine is quite disorganized...i just chuck crap on it and never ever clean it...unless i have to due to complaining from my mum....all my school work is left on it...and hardly ever used, because i tend to not do anything on it involving school work :P i dont mind a messy table...i mean, it's your choice whether you like it that way or whether you like it organized to your taste

My work desk, like everything else in this apartment, is incredibly disorganized. That's OK with me, because I'm used to it, and I know where and how to find everything. My fiance is the same way, so we ca agree on organization, and live with eachother.

Oh, I live with one like you, those that have these piles around the desk with no rhyme or reason to them, when I am called to look through the piles for a phone number or name I become irritated. I am a organize freak, bread that way through my previous career, messiness drives me crazy, I believe everything has a place, you don't need to get rid of anything, you just need to put it in it's place, it a file in a filing cabinet works best for me, but since my messy person is unable to handle such organization he allows me to place it in a file in a file organizer on his desk. I am constantly cleaning him up and the desk where he drops most of all he brings home from work and any mail that is received, I have come to the conclusion if anything wants to be found again by me this is the only we can live, in peace. Be well, my friend!

You sound exactly like me. If I straighten out my desk, I can't find a single thing that I'm looking for. Hubby calls it my filing system. LOL I keep meaning to go through everything and weed out the old stuff, but usually I will take one look and go "NAH!" and put it off yet again.

However hard I try to keep my desk and workspace tidy, I fail miserably. Stuff gets dumped on the desk, paperwork and notes, pens and pads, and no matter how often I tidy up, the clutter breeds overnight.

Im afraid im not like you at all , I have to have everything in a neat and orderly fashion so can find it whenI need it. Somtimes thru out the day things get put on the table maby waiting for attention but at days end everything is where it belongs. Right now there is a jigsaw puzzle on the table but it is on a board that i can move to another spot if we were to need the table for something.

Oh, I try to get things organised, but it became messy again after a while. So I leave it as it is. And an uncompleted puzzle, the pieces are just as messy :P

well the funny thing is that my work table is much neater than my home table. my work table has at least 50% of clean space on it. my home table, sigh! you'd be lucky to find 5% of desk to see. the rest is buried under papers, letters, bills to file, computer stuff, discs, you name it, it's sprawled out. perhaps i don't spend so much time there, which is why i dont' keep the home one so neat. when peopel come over i try to tidy it up a little though. :)

I would think you don't use the home table often... My home table is as messy. I just pull the pile off the table and pile it under the bed covers when there are guests. lol.

I make it sure that everything is on its proper rack, container, position and allocation. Even I mess it up because of so much work, still, at the end of the day, i bring it back to how it originally looks like. Even I am already so tired, I sitll clean it and organize it.

Of course having an organized working table would make the work easier and smoother. When I was working I make sure that my table was clean, files and important documents were organized accordingly. This is to make sure that I could see easily everything I would look for. But sometimes I can't do it specially during our report's deadline. After I finished all of my reports I just arranged it.

As much as possible I want my work place organize. It is easy for me to find those things that I will need. And it's time saving because I don't need to go through a lot of files if I'm looking for something.

My daughter's table is. I don't know she's so disorganized and she loves it. We used to share a bedroom and she irritates me everyday with her stuffs all around the room and she'll say, "mom, don't touch anything from my things, okay" but she'll never ever clean her mess till I get mad. Her office table is also messy with all the in-going and outgoing communications, articles and proposals. I don't understand how she's able to work with that mess. Anyway, she transfered to another room as she hates it when I nag her about her stuffs. As for me, I am very organize. I plan ahead of time and as much as possible I always keep my things arranged, which makes people especially my daughter comment that I am perfectionist and stiff. But anyway, that's me.
