Hi my friends...Lightning has not showed any improvement from his encounter with a cougar. Yes, a cougar just outside of town. Neighbor seen it swipe one of her chickens in a dead run on Monday evening, about the same time Lightning disappeared, so it's a confirmed sighting and we believe that is what happened to Lightning. So I made one final trip to the vet to cuddle with Lightning one last time while the vet gave him the shot to end his suffering. I just buried him out back and will have a small headstone made up for him later on to put over his grave. Also left him a small tribute at Rainbow Bridge. Thank you, my friends, for being here for Lightning and I. Very much appreciated.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Lightning --that was a terrible thing to happen! You've done everything that you could for that cat, including giving him a good home and lots of love and attention. Please accept my condolences and prayers for you and your poor cat. (I am sure that Lightning is in a much better place and is waiting for you on the Other Side. God bless you and the cat. I feel very bad about what happened.)

Thank you, scribe. -sighs- It happened and the word is spreading like wildfire here that there is a cougar on the prowl. The proper authorities are already tracking it so as to move it someplace where the cat will be safe from harm. Don't know how it roamed to our area cept that ppl are prolly pushing it out of it's natural territory. Lightning was spoiled rotten even by my daughter. All he had to do was meow and his needs were immediately seen to. Sure miss him at nite when he used to jump up on the bed and snuggle up next to me or on my head.

Thank you, Grandpa Bob. His heartworm would of done him in eventually and more painfully so, in a way, I'm glad he was able to go sooner. No more suffering for my lil man but sure do miss him.

OH honey I am so sorry! I had just read your other post about your husband finding him, and I was cheering about that and hoping that he would somehow pull through. I hope someone catches that cougar before it decides to latch onto a human instead. Now you have another guardian angel to watch out for you. Again, I am so sorry hon. I wish there was more that I could say or do. More big hugs to you (((((((blackbriar)))))))

Thank you for the hugs, Kat. I knew deep down he wasn't going to make it when hubby found him but the vet gave me a lil hope to latch onto that he would be able to recover. The proper authorities are already tracking the cougar in hopes of moving him someplace where he won't come to harm nor harm anyone. E1 in my neighborhood are already on the alert and watching their pets closely whenever outside.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. He was a beautiful cat. I've lost so many over the years, and it still hurts every time I think about them. They bring alot of joy to our lives when they're here, so you'll have alot of good memories. Take care.

Thank you, Brenda. I've lost 2 Labs, father and son, over the years and your right, it always will hurt when thinking about them but each loss is a lil easier to deal with than the previous. Helps to have other pets to cuddle when your hurting as well.
