I had caught a flu last Friday and in the mid of recovering. I have no choice as I still need to cook for the family. I went to the grocery store to buy something yesterday. When I return, as usual, I get into the house and start preparing the stuff. Know what, I am so forgetful that I did not take out the door key and left it on the door till this morning. I know it is dangerous as someone may get into the house, forge the key and come another day. This teaches me a lesson to be extra careful next time. And, if you are sick, rest. Do you ever left key on the door or letter box after opening.

I've done the same thing. After having my daughter my brain was practically nonexistant for a few months. But, I always make sure that I have everything when I come in so it won't happen again.

Yes, I did this once. I don't really remember the circumstances as to why I left it there. But I remember frantically looking for my keys. Where did I put them? Tore apart my house and my purse. I then when out to my car, maybe I left them there? Nope. Then on the way back in, I realize what I had done. Ooops, silly me.

It is difficult to be always careful, although we really should. In my country we have big problems right now, with crime, especially in the capital city. I live in the province, and crime is beginning to creep up on us, too. So we try to be extra vigilant, always locking the door at night. But we are still humans, and I even forget the take the car key out of the ignition and park it that way. It's dangerous, but nobody is perfect.

Oh yes You should be very very careful in this case.Anyone can enter in your house this way.I think you were inviting thieves to dinner that is why you left keys outside(just kidding).Well apart from jokes this is what my husband does most of the times. He left the key out there and starts finding it inside. It is very dangerous specially in night time.I always am very extra careful with keys matter,You know when I was a new driver most of the time I have forgotten keys inside my car.In this situation or if you have lost your keys somewhere,You feel so helpless.Except the car one I have never done anything like leaving keys outside or in letter box ever.

I have acually done this several times even without being sick. My hubby usualy arrives homw after me and pulls them out of the door and brings then into the house for me. I dont worry so much about anyone taking and copying the keys because if where we live it isnt that likely. But it is very easy to get side tracked and forget about them in the door.

We rarely lock our doors so the problem with keys doesn't arise. It is very nice to live in the country where 99% of people are honest. The 1% who are dishonest are not going to be stopped by a locked door anyway.

yes you are absolutely right .....i remember a day when i have left the key in the whole and then searching for the key (the key chain had many keys in it ) all around the house ....when i got at the door i then saw that the keychain was lying there in the whole with the keys ... once my mom droped the key infront of our house .....we have to open up the fence locked but cant open so we have to brake that fence ....and then after words we got to knew that the key was lying there .... we all must have to see this that the key dont remain in the hole its dangerous and anybody can get into your house !!!

Hope you're feeling better. As for your question, yes, I did leave the key on the door a few times. It happens usually when I'm tired or worried about something and I really need to be very careful so I always remember to take the key. Lately it hasn't happened so I think being extra careful helped.

my son does this fairly frequently and I have no clue as to why. it bugs me a lot! what if a delivery comes to the door and they take the keys? they know where you live and have the means to get in!

Yes i have did the same thing. Because i am the first person in so i thought my partner was going to bring them in. It is dangerous because someone can come in your house while you are asleep. So i hope you get feeling better maehan.

i've never left the keys on the door before but my dad has left his keys overnight at our main door before. luckily nothing happened. he was complaining that he misplaced his keys and when we opened the door, tada! his keys were hanging at the door lock lol. i usually put my keys in my bag straight away after opening the door..

oh yes...more times than I care to admit. I am so ditzy sometimes. Once I had to leave the house knowing that my daughter did not have her key with her and would be returning before me. Not wanting to lock her out, I hid the key outside and proceeded to leave her a note on the door telling her where the key was....how dumb is that???

Yes, it has happened several times. Of course, more times then that I go to bed without even locking the door. I just forget. It is dangerous, but I would like to believe that most people are honest and that nothing bad will happen, so I don't get too upset.

I didn't even miss it till I git to the car and realized what I had done! The car was not stolen, not sure if it was 'cos the people were nice or my banger just wasn't worth stealing. lol!!
