Oh my gosh! The space shuttle landed in Amarillo Sunday morning and of course...I heard about it after it had already happened! LOL. It seems bad weather elsewhere caused them to look for another runway that could accommodate the modified 747 carrying the shuttle. It was a well-kept secret. People hearing it come in called family and friends and about 200 people managed to get to the airport to see it. My husband heard about it at work and told me later. But there are some great pics on our Amarillo web page and a video also if you're interested. I watched them and was grinning like an idiot even though I didn't get to see it in person! How cool! http://amarillo.com

Wow that is cool. I will definately check out the website. I think that this would be neat to see. I bet you wish you could have seen it in person HUH? Thanks for sharing this with us, and have a great day.

Wow that is cool - I've been to the Houston Space Center some years back but was before the shuttles were operating so didn't get to see one of them.

How awesome for you hon! I was at my brother's years ago when he lived in the Mojave desert, close to Edward's Air Force Base where the shuttle landed. I didn't get to see the shuttle itself, but I heard the sonic booms as it entered the atmosphere, and I at least got to see the chaser planes as they went by a couple of times.

I can understand why you are so excited about an event like this - even if you didn't see it in person! xxx

Just like a man, for your hubby to not tell you about it until it was all over... you *couldn't possibly* have been interested in going to see it. The shuttle looks like a baby on its mother's back. Hmmm... I wonder if that's how they make more shuttles...?

It really is cool when something like comes to your town. I would have loved to go to Edwards airforce base here in CA to see it land. Edwards is about 5 hour drive from here. I did not even here that it landed in CA unitl I heard it was on its way back to Florida. Now with terriorest attacks in the UK I would think something like that would be more secret. Thanks for letting us know.
