To Get To The Tootsie Roll Center Of A Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop?
Have you ever tried to count how many licks it takes to get the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop? I have tired to do this, but I would always lose count after so many licks so I was never successful in finding out the actual number. :P My husband has also tried, but failed as well. LOL How about you? Have you tried doing this? Were you successful, or would you give up and just bite into it after so many licks, or maybe you're like me where you lost count?
Please share your thoughts.

LOL - too funny, I have tried, many times and failed each one. I would either loss count or end up taking a bit. My kids have all tried at one time or another also and none of them managed to get a count either. Now I'm craving a tootsie Roll Pop :)

Can you believe this - I went to the story, a little one a few miles from the house, and they did not have tootsie roll pops :( I did however come home with a bag of mini tootsie rolls and have been enjoying those tremendously :)

Let's find out... 1...2...3...CRUNCH. Just remembering that smart owl, licking the pop, and taking a great big crunch after his 3rd lick.
When I was younger, I actually tried to do it in 3 licks. Ouch! I almost broke a tooth!!! I think I counted up to 50 licks once (took A LOT of patience!!!) and if I remember correctly, my dog helped with the licking. LOL! That's what you get when you are influenced by things on TV when you are really little.
Sorry to say, my mom didn't let me finish counting when she saw King licking my sucker. Oh well. I guess it will remain one of those "real" mysteries. Maybe we should contact 48 hours or something to do a segment on it. HA!
Thanks for bringing back some happy memories!

I remember that darn owl! LOL I cannot believe you tried to imitate him (the owl) by biting down after the third lick. I'm amazed that you didn't break a tooth from it. I'm LMAO that you let your dog share your lollipop. Ewww...doggie germs! hahaha

OMG...your dog liked chewing gum?!? That is just too funny! I'm LMAO at that one. :)
Your mom didn't by any chance have a dog when she was little and let this dog lick her lollipop, did she? I'm only asking because you said that you and your daughter have done this. Wouldn't it be funny if it was some sort of 'secret' family tradition? :P LOL

I was a dare devil child when I was younger. :)
I will also have you know, that my dog was fond of chewing gum, so we shared my stick of juicy fruit quite often. LOL!
I caught my youngest daughter trying to share her dum dum sucker with our neighbors dog. I couldn't help but smile and laugh before I took the sucker away. I wonder if that's how my mom felt?
Thanks for the BR!! :)

No, I'm too impatient. After one or two licks, I have to take a chomp and get it over with.

LMAO!!! I've been impatient as well when it comes to these little suckers. LOL Plus it's pretty hard to keep track of the count. There has got to be an easier way to find out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop! :P

Oh my, I can't tell you how many times I tried to count the licks as a kid. Each and every time I would lose track or forget and bite....lol I never managed to get a count. Now I don't eat them...but if I happen to see them at the store I might buy one just to see if I can do it now at 47...haha I do remember getting to 32 once and I dropped it in the grass...:)

I haven't had one in a few years myself. I'm a little tempted to buy one and see if I can do this. :P LOL

Hi Sacmom, Interesting title for a discussion, lol, I've tried counting the licks a few times when I was a kid but never got past 25. Just something in those things telling you have to bite them. lol. I remember that owl and he couldnt get past three. Take care, Terry

LMAO!!! Yeah, the title is bad, isn't it? :P Well, I would have put the entire question in the title area, but it wouldn't fit, so I had to cut it down. Not to mention I figured this would be a good way to spice up my discussion! LOL
It's too bad you don't get Tootsie Roll Pops where you are at. You don't know what you are missing. ;)

I have never even thought about trying to count how many licks it takes to get to the center. Usually when I eat a tootsie roll I will just start chewing away and not licking it. I am sure it takes a lot of licks to get to the center as the center is in there pretty good. I love tootsie rolls but have not had any in a long time.

You do know that I'm talking about the lollipops by Tootsie Roll, not the chewy Tootsie Roll candies, right?
