Do the churches to day care more about saving you or the money they rake in on sunday? whats your take on it ? does God want us to pay for his Sevice or can we just talk to him? i belive in religion but it's become a billion dollar industry

I can't speak for all churches... but my church doesn't collect money on the Sabbath (I keep Saturday, not Sunday). We only collect money on certain Holy Days when it's commanded. I do tithe though, 10% of all my earnings but we don't give that on the day we meet, that's usually mailed in whenever you'd like. I don't believe we should be giving in money every time there's services, that's not what the bible says. I don't like how the church I went to as a child received money every Sunday yet we never saw what they did with the money. They never ever provided us with bible tools or booklets or magazines or anything. We should be seeing the fruits in our churches, when we give and give and give and see nothing - something isn't right.

*wow* That place really needs to evaluate themselves. In my church you don't have to tithe, no one will force you or anything. That's really between the person and God. I feel that if I don't tithe I'm stealing from God, it has nothing at all to do with our church organization, they just distribute it. I'm pretty content with my church and how they handle things, I can go on the website and order booklets, magazine, the newspaper, bible tools, whatever they have available all for free. Our tithes cover the costs, I love seeing where my money goes into.

It really has gotten bad. My church doesn't expect us to give a certian amount, we like to stick to the way church offerings were meant for. When they first started passing around offering plates when Christianity first started, it was for those who had money to give to those who didn't. People could put in money, pass the plate, and then someone else take it out, and it was okay. Now of course our church doesn't like people taking out of the offering plate, but a lot of the money goes to helping other people out. We have programs through are church that help people in need pay their bills, get food, and just about anything else they need.

I can only speak for the church I attend and I know that money is not the priority for Sunday - worshipping God and developing a relationship with Him is what is important. Yes, my church does take up a collect on Sunday but it's up to each individual what or if they contribute. Our church does post publically where every penny is spent though and I know the good things they do with the money they collect. And most goes to helping the community not just the people in the church either. An example, when I was still working outside the home my car broke down. I didn't have money to have it fixed but couldn't make money if I didn't go to church. One of the retired pastors in the church let me use his car for 3 days and the church had my car towed to the shop and the bill sent to them. I was very very grateful to the church, the pastor, and to the people who had a good heart and gave to the church! I know there are a lot of churches that do appear to just be asking for money and I think those give a bad name to the ones who have God as the important thing in their service and use that money for good of others not just to line their pockets.

I can only answer for the church my family attends. Churches do need money to operate, pay the bills and the staff to keep it running. I also believe that if you are an active member of a church it is your responsibility to tithe. God does not want us to "pay" for His service, but instead to be faithful in supporting the church and other ministries. Our church is about saving people instead of being being a million dollar "business". I know there are churches out there that misrepresent the Church as a whole.
