Oh dear I didn't think people got sun burn anymore, I remember when I was a teenager a tan was a must and I would lay out in the sun for hours, I wish in those days the information that is available today was instilled in us but then when I think about it today it should have been common sense that what we were doing was so bad for us, today we ar all paying for it...better to try and not get sunburn, I hope someone can help you with a good remedy...

As lilaclady says, prevention is better than cure! Lots of people here in the UK like to tan, in fact tanning salons were something of a minor boom industry in recent years despite all of the skin cancer advice we receive!
Thankfully more people are having spray-on tans done now.
In answer to your question, Aloe Vera is the best stuff I've heard of. My favourite is a cheap brand called 'Banana boat' it's a green jelly on a bottle that smells really nice and feels great when applied fresh from the fridge!

Try taking a bath in lukewarm water in which you should pour a cup of baking soda or apple cider vinegar as this will cool down the skin. Compresses with cold green, black, calendula or St. John’s Wort will have the same cooling effect on the damaged skin.
Chamomile, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Rose hips and Buckthorn essential oils are also beneficial for the inflamed skin. They can be applied directly to the skin or added to the bath water.
Besides oils, there are some raw vegetables that sliced and applied to the burns will have a very soothing effect: potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, cold juice from lettuce leaves, corn starch and water paste etc.
What you consume when suffering from sunburns is also highly important, as drinking a lot of milk and food rich in vitamin C, E, betacarotene and Zinc will speed the recovery of the skin.
