How long have you had McAfee, and does it coincide with the time when everything started to slow down? While I will be one of the first to praise McAfee for their new firewalls, I will say that the latest full versions of McAfee are quite heavy on resources. My grandma had McAfee Security Center courtesy of Comcast until the new version came out in November. Unfortunately, her P4 machine doesn't have the power to handle it. And it ain't exactly a dinosaur! McAfee's firewalls all have inline protocol filters, so they can block drive-by exploits (malicious code from the Internet) as well as traditional port probing by hackers. This is a good thing, but not if you can't use the Internet. It could go either way, really. It could just as easily be Spyware Terminator, especially if you have its HIPS engine turned on (and even a bit more with Clam AV). But I've used it before, and it doesn't seem to be quite as heavy as McAfee would be. But McAfee is harder to re-install, so you might actually try Spyware Terminator first. If uninstalling Spyware Terminator doesn't help anything, put it back, then disable all McAfee's services that are currently running before uninstalling it.

hi jumpin. . you should check the settings of your internet connection, firewall as well as mcafee software. If nothing works, i suggest you uninstall the programs you think are causing the problems and see if the net filter is disabled. If not i suggest you just have your pc reformatted..:)

Yeah thanx. It was the settings in my anti-spywar software that was filtering everything and making it slow. Now i've set it right. Thankx again for your time.

What kind of firewall are you running? If that's what's slowing down your browsing, you might want to replace it with a different one.
