What is RSS Feed?

I only know a little about RSS Feed. I only understand that it is a type of url used for spiders to recognize a blog in an internet. I am not sure what is the purpose of RSS Feed and would like to know what is the use of it. One more thing, I really would like to know how to put RSS Feed in the sidebar link. Any information on RSS Feed would very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any replies to this discussion. I need this information very much.

rss feed is usually the blog's, you know you use some kind of rss software to subscribe rss feed, so that you can watch and read your favorite blogs all the time, that's what i think about rss feed. you will get to the know thing in no time.
