Do you have any friends that are of another race than you? Was it difficult to relate to them at first?

This is the very question is at the heart of why people who have never had a friend who was a different race, religion or ethnicity think it is so impossible. The very fact that you have met them in a place that is common to both of you is the first clue that you have something in common. Think about it.. you meet in school or at work or at some activity in the community. Right away you are seeing things that make you alike. If you go to the same school you have a community, your age,the fact that you are students and may have similar issues with school in common. At work maybe you have noticed you share the same work ethic. An activity sports, music ... doesn't that mean you have so much in common. When you meet under these circumstances trust me you do not focus on differences. Later on as I have gotten to know people more personally I enjoy knowing about their family and traditions and including each other in our lives because of what we each bring to the table in a relationship.

Yes, I have friends in Canada..and they are always coming over here to the states to shop and play in the casino..because you can't smoke in thiers..lol I have a lot of Philippine people that I know..as my wife is from the Philippines..yes, it was a little hard to relate..as sometimes when you visit their house they want you to eat ..and you tell them no you don't want to eat..they sulk and act like you offend them...my wife just says that is the Philippine custome..they will always expect people to say no and you must ask your guest several times if they want to eat.. My wife learned that the hard way. Once she went to my Mother's house and my mother asked Louella is she would like to eat with them? she said no..and that was the end of it..they just sat down and ate..and in the way we were raised ..NO means NO..lol
