I don't really have any good cooking secrets of my own. But my fiances grandma makes the best cookies in the world. Up until last week I seriously thought she spent hours in the kitchen slaving away making her cookies. And they are always so perfect and round. Well just last week I made some homemade chocolate chip cookies to bring to a family get together. I was disappointed because I can never get them perfectly round and I can just never seem to get the recipe perfect. So I asked his grandma what she did to get her cookies so perfect and yummy. You know her secret? She just uses the refrigerated Pilsbury cookies!! I couldn't believe it! All this time I thought she was slaving away in the kitchen lol. This just cracked me up at how even Grandma's are finding shortcuts to good cooking now. So what is your secret?

That just reminded me of the "Friends" episode where Phoebe is telling Monica that her Grandma always made the BEST cookies ever! Well, Monica took that as a challenge, and tried to duplicate grandma's recipe. She made batch after batch until Phoebe said that the name of the cookies were Nestle Toll House. (She said it with a french accent.) Monica was SO mad! LOL! My MIL is always complimenting my fresh "homebaked" bread. She is always grateful when I bring her a loaf. Oh, how sad I feel when it's just a loaf of frozen bread dough from the Schwan's man. :) Oh well, it's worth the compliments anyway.

For years, I would make my spaghetti sauce from scratch and would have mixed results. Some days it was delicious. Other days it wasn't so great. I started using canned sauce a couple of years ago and just doctor it up. Everyone loves it now.

LoL I guess even oldies deliver their best punchline's without knowing that they did it!;) I am now so much into Calamari (calamares), those deep-fried squid rings dipped from a batter. Well to make it easy, I just pour the batter on a clean cellophame and the squid rings in it. I shake the cellophane well to mix all the ingredients and to absorb all the spices. This makes cooking quick and easy, with no mess and to keep away the batter mixture from sticking on our hands!;)

Your story was really funy...you wait hear the big grandma's secret and you find Pilsbury cookies.By the way we have her some refrigerated produce of Pilsbury but not the cookies.I would like to test. Now about me I haven't big cooking secrets except my imagination.Always I use it when I cook anything.Whenever I tried to go step by step from a recipe never hasn't success.I prefer always change little the recipe ,change little the stuff we suppose must use etc.

I don't know how much of a secret this is, but ever since someone told me about it, I've been doing it. I love stuffing, and make stuffed turkey or chicken every month or so. Someone said that if you put cream of mushroom soup in the stuffing, it makes it really moist. I use different cream soups for variety, like cream of chicken or celery, or cream of onion. It helps make the stuffing tasty.

No I am not such a great cook that I could have some great secrets to share. I like to keep things simple when I cook. I don't know if that is because I am afraid to try any of the complicated things?

My best kept cooking secret, cynddvs, is that you don't have to start out as a great cook-just learn the basics and the rest will fall into place. When I first got married I could barely boil water. My uncle was patient with me and told me everything I needed to know in order to put together one decent meal. From that time I evolved into the great cook that I am. I was careful not to become discouraged because my aunt always told me that even the best of cooks will occasionally have failures.

That's funny! I guess you just never know! My biggest cooking secret is spices, I think. If I make something new, or something old, I always try new spices in the dish every time I make it until I come up with a blend of spices that I really like. I have 3 racks for spices in my kitchen, and I never really know what spices I am going to add to the dish until I start cooking it. Some turn out really good, and some not so good, but I at least am learning from those mistakes. My best spices that I like to use are oregano, parsley, garlic, and chives.

Basic foods - No recipe secrets here!
When I was first married at the ripe old age of 18 I couldn't boil water. I used to buy already prepared meals and tell my new hubby that I made them..lol...anyway, now that I REALLY cook I have no real secrets. I've given my 2 daughters all of my recipes and even some of my mothers.

i had a good laugh at your story. me,i dont want anyone watching me when i'm cooking, coz, when something turn out wrong, the dish goes to the garbage and i have another one prepare, but i dont do shortcuts, trying to learn how to cook the hard way

Hehehe.. That's funny. The biggest secret my mom, grandmother and I used when cooking is.. You have to be happy while cooking, smile and feel good. For sure, the food will taste great too. Plus don't forget the basics like salt and pepper to taste.
