Well our quiet little town is half way under water. Bush has declared it a national disaster. Not only are homes flooded but our local oil refinery spilled 42000 gallons of gas in to the flood water. So now to make a bad situation worse no one is allowed to re-enter there homes even after water goes down. The epa, fema, red cross are all out here. To day we saw the national gaurd show up. The water for the whole town was turned off yesterday. So the whole town is affected one way or another. The oil not only spilled over to us but has gotten in to other lakes around here as well. 17 of ks county are affect from flooding. So anyway just thought i would vent. peace out

That is so sad!!! You're town will be spending years trying to repair all that damage! I feel so sorry not only for you, and the residents of the town but also the poor fish in the lakes! I wish you all the luck once the waters recede.

I am so sorry to hear of your town flooding. It always seems part of the country needs water and the rest of the country is getting too much. Are they posting warnings of the oil refinery and keeping people from fishing in the waters? I hope so. Wow, 17 counties is a lot. Good luck to you and yours!

Vent away hon. That's what friends are for is to listen and give sympathetic shoulders. I have been watching the news here and they have been showing everything that is going on in your area. How scary! I am glad you are still with us and relatively safe. Please be careful and take care of yourself hon.

It has been pretty bad weather for most of us around the world. This is just another example of global warming. Yet there are people who seem to not realise how global the problem is. There's not suppose to be any flood when all the water is channeled into the rivers and lakes. However, during flooding the water level rise so fast it even breaks the river banks. To not have fresh water supply will be tough. How are you getting through it now jjwatson? Are you located in relief centers? Is sanitation a huge problem? My prayers are with you and all those affected by this flood. Do keep me updated. God Bless. - Lyn
