Muses

For writers, most of us have had at least one encounter with them. Call them what you will, inspiration, genius, a flash of lightning, Snookums, "Come-here-and-let-me-strange-you" and the kinds that take loooooong vacations. I personally have six muses (that I know of, though they shapeshift often into something else) but at least they're more or less specialise in their relative fields. So, what do your muses do? How many do you have? What do they mean to you?
