Here in Canada, most people I know that are my age have only ever attempted to drive a standard transmission a few times, their vehicles are automatic transmission, so they never really had to learn.
I'm just learning how to on my boyfriend's Mini Cooper, and I'm not terrible at it, but am still kind of unsure.
What about you?

I learned on an automatic, but soon afterwards I bought pickup with a standard transmission and had someone teach me how to drive it. All of my children who are old enough to drive have learned how to drive a standard, and my two younger boys are learning now. I won't have any of my children not knowing how. They are free to choose which type they prefer, but I want them to at least know how.

I got my driving licence on a stick shift. Then I bought an automatic but my husband still likes the stick shift and I drive his car sometime but find it annoying to shift gears etc.
