Who handles the family finances?

Money is very important to the family, for there are a lot of expenses. A wife ususally handles the finances. but there are instances, (know this is true) when the husband controls the money and handle all the family funds. The wife is just there to make babies, cook food, clean house. Who should handle the family funds?

I don't think it should be based on gender, much like relationship roles, etc. I think that it really depends on who is good with money, and that's only if the both of you can't work it out together and figure it out. Really, in an ideal situation, I would think that it would be beneficial if both members of a family have their equal say when it comes to the money.
