Would you trust your teen to stay home alone?

If you had to go out of town on an emergency trip, would you trust your teen to stay home alone? Do you worry that they might get in trouble or hold a party in your house while you were gone? Would they behave or skip school to hang out with their friends?

Hi beautyqueen, It would really depend on the age of my teen. I would not leave my 13 yr old home alone when going out of town, but I would leave my 15 yr old. I have left them both home when away for a long weekend before. I always tell them that the neighbors will be watching the house and don't be surprised when someone stops by to check on you. This way if they plan on doing something, they have a chance of getting caught. I know that my kids would never skip school because the school would send someone to the home and they would be in huge trouble.

Hello beautyqueen26, I always leave my teen at home when we leave for the weekend or on business. Our daughter has never missed a day of school except the one time she had chicken pox and she wanted to go to school then. She never cared too much for partying when she was in school. Now she's off to college and she does her partying now, She's paying for school now and she wants to have fun and learn. But anywhay we never had any problem leaving her at home so we could go out of town. I guess we were lucky to have a teen that is trustworthy. Peace, Totty

I think it depends on how one parent belive in their kids and how you manage them to be in home when they are left all alone in home.

It would all depend on the maturity of the teenager/s and whether he/she was responsible enough to take care of themselves. I would still be skeptical in leaving them alone however I suppose I will find out in 10 years time or so. I would most probably have a family member at home with them if my husband and i had to go away for a few days.

That all depends on how my teen girl or boy acted if I thought they were trust worthy then I would probally let them stay all alone for the weekend but I would still be very worried and probally have one of my neighbors spy on them for the weekend wouldnt want them to throw any wild parties at my house and if they did I would groung them for a very long time lol.
