What do you do to stay cool?

The temperature in the Midwest has been very hot and humid. The western United States is having extreme heat this summer. My friends in New York tell me it has, also, been very hot and sticky. Summer is a time to enjoy the great outdoors. In this kind of heat it is sometimes hard to do. I like to go swimming or find a shade tree near my fishing pond to sit under while I fish. What do you do to stay cool and enjoy the outdoors? PEACE

We live in Seattle, where very few people have air conditioning in their homes, but most public buildings have air conditioning. During the week, we are out of the house, but on the weekends, we will go to the movies or the mall if it gets too unbearable. If we have to stay home, we will open our balcony door and put a fan in the doorway. At least here it always cools off in the evening, it's usually comfortable in the shade, and if you get near enough to the water, there is a lovely breeze. If it weren't for those things, I would be pretty miserable, not having air conditioning at home.

I just visited my brother in Seattle earier in June. The weather was quite mild then. How is it now? My brother told me it doesn't get as hot and humid as it does here in Illinois. I really enjoyed my visit there. Cannot wait to go back! PEACE

i suffer when its hot. i have asthma and the hot, humid air really bothers me and my breathing. we dot not have central air at home, but where i work there is air conditioning and at nights,i like to spend time at the library or other places where it is cool to help my breathing. i sleep near our portable air conditionar at home during the night.
