Cash Machines shouldn't trap our money!!

Earlier today I went withdrawn some money with my wife, not the maximum amount which is meant to be designed for which is £500 but around half of that.
Anyway, the darn machine trapped the money which has happened before but I've never had my finger trapped by trying to remove it or has it managed to gash/cut my finger in the process. (I was careful) I hate the idea of losing fingers etc, the thought of blood alone is something I'd do best to avoid.
My concern would be as a kid, I used to take the money out for my parents. What if this was a child? they wouldn't of been careful or aware of this and worse it could of done more damage.
Personally I wouldn't trust withdrawing £500, it nearly trapped it with half..
The picture attached is a good, although none of the ones I've taken was better. Just attaching it, the cut it self is pretty deep and luckily its not that wide. (still if your unaware of this and it does happen) it could be very serious.

P.s I'll moan else where.. tomorrow I'm going to visit the branches manager where this happened. (they should fix this)

Wow, Joey, I've never heard of this happening before. I'm sure it must really hurt, and that's a good point you have about a kid possibly getting injured. The banks 'gouge us' enough, without 'this' happening. I'm glad you're going to report this too.

I haven't either.
I would of thought they'd of "seen" this problem and they've recently replaced older ones. So I'm wondering if they got in cheaper ones to replace them because they do work differently. (rather horrible)
Thanks Som :) *waves

P.s Thankfully it only hurt just a few minutes after, now it's just sore.

You're likely right, and they're trying to save money with poorer quality equipment. Glad your hand's okay.:) Have a great day!

Wow what bank did you get money from? I use WAMU and they have a machine where you can get your money but the money pops out and you grab it. You don't have to reach in to get it. What kind of machine to bank are you using? This is pretty strange.

Lloyd's TSB.
The cash machine is one of those you mentioned, although when the money traps and doesn't move forward you have to pull it out. (this has happened many times without the shutters trapping my finger)
If I was inside the branch I would of asked for assistance but outside using a cash point outside there's not much you can do.
Personally I think the shutters should be more advanced, I know some might use it to try and grab money but it's not likely with how far back that is. lol
Anyways, I hoping they'll listen or if worse does happen I hope they get suited.

Yeah, you are right, it shouldn't have to be that way at all. That should be taken care of before it gets worse and hurt somebody.

Your welcome :)
I complained to the manager earlier and it was all um and r's and the pretty annoying thing was I had to overly explain why it wasn't my fault. lol
Like i'd be as mental to trap my own finger..

Oh no- that is terrible- Here the money comes out a slot- there is no trap door- but you have to be careful because on really windy days- it could blow away- I would certainly go to the branch manager and show them- File a complaint- see if they can get it fixed- I can't imagine a child getting their finger caught in it- OUCH!

Oh those are fun... lol
My father would agree but mind you when it's happened he normally isn't fast enough to collect it. (myself and my brother has too) :P
I went to see the manager earlier, nothing much to say that I haven't already said but I didn't like his attitude.

Goodness! What kind of cash withdrawal machine is that?!!
The ones we have here are quite safe.. at least no one has been injured before. You should alert the bank concerned and/or the authorities to do something about it before someone gets hurt! :P

This has never happened to me, but in a place where I used to work in a shop it did in the till I trapped my thumb in the till part and really messed up my hand for awhile but me being the professional that I am, carried on working with no days off ever, I just took a few £20 notes out of the till to compensate my small injury... I was sacked a week later!!

yikes! That's no good. Apparently you were at the evil twin ATM machine to the one that was dishing out twice what people were asking to take out. So instead of getting extra, you got a bloody finger. Certainly tell the branch manager. They might not know the machine was malfunctioning, so they can fix it and I am sure they will.

I forgot to update this.
I had a meeting with the branch manager who basically said I should of gone to him when it happened/ didn't buy the story. Until I shown him my finger and some of the notes which got caught with my blood, it hasn't done it since and he did say it was probably faulty.
Like I didn't know that already.. lol
Although I have noticed rubber guiders placed over the metal since, so hopefully they'll make it less painful if it was to happen.

Thanks cassidy..

Blimme I've never known a cash machine to do that before - I'm always getting my cards eaten - which is so blimmin annoying, especially if it's over the weekend! I'd be straight into the bank to have a go - even if it's small cut, they shouldn't be doing stuff like that!!

I've never gotten my card eaten so I guess this is pay back. I don't think they're feeding the machine properly and although I'm joking now, I wasn't then lol
Thought it took my finger off.. :/
I wen't to complain about this earlier and the manager just went "i'll get it looked at, i'm sorry it happened" after I had explain that it wasn't my fault, geez do these guys ever do anything wrong?

I actually haven't checked, but I'm sure it as.
If it hasn't then I would tell them because I wouldn't want the mint coming after me for it. (although it would be funny)
Either faulty or tacky cash machine... ~Joey
