Is Charlie actually dead?

In the season finale of Lost we see Charlie in a room full of water but is he dead? We have seen in Lost many a times where we think one thing happens but yet we were all wrong I am thinking this is one of those times. I am willing to bet that Charlie and posibly the one eyed man find their way back to the island well and alive.
