For me I tried Clariton and Alegra to no avail. They didn't touch me. My doctor back when I had bronchitis put me on Astelin and that has worked wonders on allergies. It's been great. It's by prescription only though so that can be a problem if you don't have a doctor or the money. For over the counter the best I've used is Comtrex Allergy/Sinus but it's hard to find. Other then that straight benedryl. It can make you a bit tired but it does work.

You are quite welcome and I hope it helps you out. Thank you by the way for Best Response. It's really helped with mine. I was surprised after trying so many others and not have them work.

I use Loratadine and have for several years. Its the generic form of Claritin and it works well for me.

I try that sometimes, but mine are powerful and terrible....they will go to an infection quick so I always have to be careful......

I have very bad allergies and living here in Texas they seem to be worse, probably due to all the pine trees, but I enjoyed taking Clartin more than Alegra, seemed to help with the decongestant part of the sinus problems. I never took Vitamin C, but I believe I drink enough orange juice to get all my vitamins from my food.

I was on Allegra and then Zyrtec when my insurance changed. It became to expensive to take either of those, so I went back on the generic Claritin. I researched allergy relief a lot, and found that if you take a 1000mg Vitamin C pill along with two 100 mg tablets of Grape Seed Extract, that will greatly reduce a person's allergies. And it has mine. Since both pills are herbs, it also has no real risk associated with it either. And just a few tips for allergy sufferers: wash your hair at night (during the day all the stuff your allergic to accumulates on your hair and scalp and you breathe it in while you sleep), and clean out your car vents once every two weeks. Those greatly help the allergy sufferer. Sometimes I don't even have to take Claritin when I have done all the other things consistently. : )
