PROPHECY BEHIND TOWER OF HANOI You all must be aware of the Tower of Hanoi puzzle but are you aware of the Myth behind it. There is a legend about an Indian temple that contains a very large room with three time-worn posts in it surrounded by 64 golden disks. The priests of Brahma, acting out the command of an ancient prophecy, have been moving these disks according to the rules of the puzzle. According to the legend when the last move of the puzzle is completed the world will end. The puzzle is therefore also known as Tower of Brahma puzzle. If the legend was true & if the priests were able to move disks at a rate of 1 PER SECOND, using the smallest number of moves, it would take them 2^(64-1)seconds= roughly 585.442 billion years. Let me tell you the Universe is around 13.7 billion years old. There are many variations to this legend, some say the temple is a monastery & the priests are monks. The Temple or monastery is said to be in different parts of the world, including Hanoi,Vietnam & may be associated with any religion In some versions they say that the tower was created at the beginning of the world, & that the priests/monks are allowed to make only ONE MOVE PER DAY. The FLAG TOWER OF HANOI in Vietnam may have been an inspiration for the name. HAD YOU HEARD ABOUT THIS PROPHECY/MYTH BEFORE? WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON IT.
