What if this site is just a sociology study being done by sone university or institute with some grant? They don't seem to have enough ads to really pay for the site. Even though there are almost 100,000 signed up, how many are active and how many of the active ones really make much money here? The grant wouldn't have to be too big to pay us here and to underwrite the costs. They say they pay according to the content and quality of the discussions and responses and gathering data for a study would allow them to do that. What do you think?

Never know, I've already been paid by mylot so I'm sure they have many ways of paying for the site, as for a study, well maybe but you never know. If it is then it's a good way to find out about people, but I see it more as a community to allow one to express themselves as they feel.

Yes, which is a good way to gather data for a study.

If it were a big sociology study they would find that most of here in myLot tend to get along even though we are from different parts of the world. It shows that people in general are good.

Yes, I have often had those same thoughts, that the discussions here demonstrate how people from all over the world have more in common than they have differences. It is certainly reassuring for the future of the world.

I'd say that's a good question and not a bad way to study people without their knowledge. Although if that were the case, I think there would probably be a bunch of law suits. Can you study people without their knowledge? Hmm...I know that's the best way to do it but I wonder if it would be legal? It would be like recording someone's conversation without them knowing. Anyway, they better pay me!!! haha!

You make a good point about the legality. I must admit I haven't read the privacy policy or guidlines close enough to see if there is a loop hole to avoid such a problem and I venture to say that most people haven't either. Since we are paid that might also help in the legal area.
