when we get sick, we have our trusted family doctor. that even our parents and grandparents trust too. if there was a case that he/she diagnosed you with a disease, you took medicine and did not get well. will you go to the other doctor and get second opinion? or you will continue with your doctor for years?

I have faith that my doctor knows what he's doing. If I didn't, I would assume that it's time for me to find another one. I've never had reason to think that I need a 2nd opinion. I guess if it was really bad though, if I was really sick, I would ask for a 2nd opinion.

no, i dont get second opinion, i trust my doctor. if ever there are circumstances that i doubted my doctor, or he/she did or said something that i did not like, i change doctor. i change my OB I think four times already. for me a doctor is not just someone who prescribe you medicine when your sick, he/she should be someone you can be comfortable with, explain everything, and is not ashamed to admit if you need to go see another doctor because he/she is not an expert in your illness.

We have only lived here for 11 months so our family doctor we do use seems to know her stuff. We are comfortable with her now but if need be, I will look for others for opinions if i was not satisfied with her service. Sometimes for more complicated situations, you just may need to get another ones medical advice besides your own doctor.

This is actually an easy question, in my opinion...if my family doctor whom I dearly love and trust were to diagnose me with a disease and prescribed medication...which she proclaimed should help...I would expect her to follow up with me and ensure that it is working properly...if she did not do this...then I would feel it necessary to go for a second opinion... At the same time, if my doctor diagnosed me with a disease and told me that there was no way to proceed with treatment...I would also seek another professional's advice.....

it's not bad to get second opinion, and don't call it you don't trust the doctor, and if the first doctor says to you that you don't trust him, then go to another doctor, i think good doctors are to tell you if you want second opinion then go, meaning they trust their last words or their verdict, especially when having serious cases and is needing operations, that needs you to have second or even third or at least ten opinions,...If parts or part of the body will be cut out, then definitely i go for a second opinion, we don't know if the second doctors has new remedy and doesn't need the part to be cut out, just don't hesitate to get second opinion and the best thing is not to inform your doctor about getting second opinions cause somewhat he may be hurt though a good doctor accepts new ideas and promote new opinions, thanks...
