Italian Ice's, what more refreshing treat in the heat and humid summer? I just can not find any that taste like the ones we had as a kid. Luigis are pretty good though. I just had a lindy's homemade italian ice, lemon flavor and it is exceedingly bitter in the after taste. that bitterness is hanging around the back of my throat and is annoying me at every swallow, lol.
What flavor italian ice's do you like?

i think the ones we used to get were luigi's too,it's been awhile.we'd get the red ones (i think they're cherry),but to be honest i think i liked the lemon ones better.
i may just go buy some tomorrow, now that you mention it.it would be a nice treat :)

Ohhh, I so miss being able to get an Italian Ice in the hot summer months. I moved to this small town 13 years ago, and it doesn't have a place to get Italian Ice. The town from which I moved had several places. My favorite was an independent place inside the mall. It was in the center of the mall concourse and I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. My favorite was the raspberry flavored one! Yum! Another thing to add to the list of things that this small town doesn't have. I feel so stranded and out of the loop living here. Grrrr.

I know, I'm living in the dark ages but although I've heard of them I've never had an Italian Ice - I think lemon would be what I would try first though although after your discription maybe not. I love lemonade in the summer though.

I haven't had an Italian Ice in years, since I moved from Chicago years ago. We used to get them from the little hot dog stands. Here in Ohio there are no places like that. I think there may be some kind of Italian Ices in the freezer section at the grocery, but I'm sure they're not as good.

Gelato! Yum, that's my favorite.
Oh yes, I do remember one of the ice-cream that my italian friend name it "Semifredo Mina". That's a homemade ice-cream taste like vanilla with chocolate, strawberry sauce, rum, and some other ingredient that I have no idea what he had added into it. Nice and Cooling....
