Can we still call them "coming out" stories?

Over the years, I have heard and read many stories of the struggle of gay people to "come out of the closet". Some are hair-raising, some are heart-breaking, some are hilarious, but all show some unique moments in different people's lives. To tell you the truth, though, I have never heard any such stories from straight people. If one "chooses" one's sexuality, I was wondering, why not? If you are familiar with such a story, will you share it here? Since there isn't really a figurative "closet" for straight people to emerge from, can we still call them "coming out" stories?
