ptr/ptc sites:what is manual surfing?

i have a general idea,but they don't explain it very well..most sites will say,put a link here for manual surfing,but if people see you while surfing,we'll deduct X amount.. i mean,is it any kind of link? or do they want ptc related type links? i'm confused by it,i'm not sure what type of link they're looking for.

yes,it does help.why didn't they just come out and say so ,lol. They always have to make things sound so complicated,lol
