I was tinking that you got a point for the first response to a discussion you started and then I didn't today. Is this a change or what?

No you don't get any points for responding to your own discussion. I read that in the frequently asked questions section of Mylot. It is emphasised that you reply to all your responses with a "thank you" but you will not get credit for it! You will get credit for continuing the discussion though, the more you respond with questions the more likely the responses to continue and you will recieve points:) With that being said, good luck and if you feel that you need a better explanation you can always contact admin and ask about the "points on responses to your discussion" :):)

I meant a point when someone else responds to a discussion that I started. Sometimes I do and some times I don't. I never noticed getting any points for following up with a response to someones response to a discussion I have started even though I do it a lot if there is anything to say to it.

I am sorry! I don't think that we get points for our discussions, I believe that is because others get the points for responding to our discussion. I have never noticed my points befor and after starting a discussion, but it probably has to do with the time it takes for responses.... I am just guessing here, if you are truly curious then you should ask admin. I am just trying to help! Have a good day:)
