Are you referring to the song I've Never Been To Me by Charlene? If so, I agree with you that this is a beautiful song. A woman of the world is sharing stories of her life to a woman who has chosen to be a wife and a mother. In words that are bittersweet, she explained that so many housewives envy the glamorous life that she had lead, never realizing that all the things she enjoyed was fleeting and unsatisfying. In some ways she regretted her choice, thus missing the chance of building a family and having children. It might not sit well with some women's libbers, but there is a lot of truth in her words. Again, I agree, it is a beautiful song.

I guess you mean Charlene's "Never Been To Me" - My sisters and I loved this song even before we could understand most of the lyrics! We used to listen to the radio a lot. There is something about the rhythm, the music that just appealed to us back then and still does now. Now that I understand the lyrics...it's like...hmm...wow...ok...didn't realise the song was so "heavy" (and so PG-rated lol) but it is a beautiful song about life and regret. She sings about being to paradise, but having "never been to me" clearly a reference to some inner soul-searching that she wishes she had made time for in all her "adventures" and it's all in advice form for anyone cursing their own life, to take a closer look at what they really treasure, so maybe they can see that there are things in their life that they can be grateful for, i.e. things are not as bad as they seem or maybe things in their life they can change for the better by looking inwardly before its too late. It's like maybe a soulful song version of the quote "To thine own self be true" in some ways. You know I don't even know how this song did on the charts back when it came out, but it will always be a favorite of mine.
