Why hold a massive 24 hour concert to "educate" the people? Could it have been just to litter up stadiums and use up so much energy, they would have to plant 100,000 trees to compensate for the "carbon footprint"? If litter, polution and some pretty great music was the goal, then MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

I thought it was a huge waste of time and resources. I would love to see the grouds where the concerts were held today. They're probably strewn with a tons of garbage and water bottles. There's no way people woke up today, and went "Gee, I'd better shut off the lights....becuase the music people said so. On the other hand, it'll probably work, after all, didn't we eradite world hunger with Live Aid?

Oh, no concert with Melissa Etheridge is a complete waste. ;~D But you're right, this will do as much for the environment as Live Aid did for starving Ethiopians.

Remember what some aid to Al Gore said"We have to create carbon to fix global warming". Al Gore has to be a modern day snake oil salesmen. The interesting thing is all the people who actually thinks Live Earth helped the planet. We have to realize that some people are hopless.

Yup, and Al is one dude that likes to create carbon! of course, he can justify it because he can put money into his own carbon offset scam. I guess if I pissed on Gore, it would be ok with him, as long as I took the time to wash it off... no harm done, right? ;~D

Te2k, sometimes it becomes necessary to do a little damage to drive home an important point-I saw the Live Concert myself, some revellers appeared to have fallen in mud and leaves were allover the place-God knows how many trees they themselves destroyed that day! But am one person thinks these issues of global warming need to dramatized in weired ways if that make the perpetraters of the problem see the point! There is now no denying that the world is getting warmer because the Industrialized nations like US, Russia, China, Japan, and the whole of Europe are unleashing the industrial emmissions into the atmosphere and distablizing atmospheric order and causing global warming-I agree instead of appearing to be merry-making, we should plant trees, but remember this was a concert embraced by 7 continents-even the most powerful superpower of this world can just Not ignore the symbolic gesture of this action-I want to beg you to ignore the litter bit and think more about the symbolism of this action! May be when they live the stages tomorrow, they will start planting trees, but what will be the value of planting the trees if they dry away because America and other super powers are not keen on cutting down their industrial emissions?

I won't ignore the litter the hypocrites left behind. I won't ignore all the private jets each of the artists used, instead of Jet pulling. I won't ignore the utter contempt that each person who dropped litter showed for the environtment they lie about caring for. I won't ignore the fact that none of these concerts were held using "Green" generated power. I won't ignore the fact that more power was used yesterday for these concerts than those cities would use normally in the next 10 years... why? Because Al Gore, Mikey Moore, YOU and other Green Activists talk a good game, but make excuses for yourselves when you can't live up to your own rhetoric.

Just think of all the pollution and debri a car bomber causes, and all this in the name of God. People are so full of poo, that they have to post thier weight when they take a crapp, so if they fall in the bowel people will know how much to shovel out before they flush.

I watched some of the concert on TV and wow! Awesome entertainment! However, when the day is done it was a big waste of the precious resources Gore says we need, or need to get away from. Where did all this money from ticket sales go anyway? Seriously, I wanna know. Here's my take on global warming. It may be happening, it may not, depends on who you ask. Everyone can cite studies to support their opinion. Do I recycle? Sure I do, the community I live in makes it convenient to do so, when I'm home anyway. However, when I'm out shopping I don't see separate containers outside the mall for recycleables, everything goes in the same trash, and it's that way at most restaurants too. It's just not convenient to recycle. As for energy consumption, I wonder how many retailers would be happy at the thought of not having their big neon signs lit to attract customers after dark? Or how many people would shut off American Idol to save that energy. Whoever made the remark about old people dying from pneumonia because of turning the heat down a few degrees...if you were serious, you are one major idiot. I guess the point I am trying to make is there is a group of people out there who are screaming Global Warming! Impending Doom! But are not willing to make it convenient or profitable to make a difference, and we live in a world that is all about convenience and profit. Live Earth will not make a darn bit of difference, but was one heckuva show!

Yeah, there were a few bands I would have loved to see. I mean, let's face it, there are some lefty loudmouths that can really play and sing! I had to accept the fact that most my favorite musicians and I wouldn't see things the same... but one thing we do agree on, it's music. As far as old people dying of pneumonia, yeah, it happens. Not like the other end of the spectrum though... France's killer heat wave comes to mind. Just think how many lives a little freon would have saved... but NOOOO. 10,000 people is a small price to pay for the earth... I guess.

It's called "do as we say, not as we do." Also known as hypocrisy. Don't worry though, I'm sure carbon credits were purchased to offset the massive carbon footprint of the event. LOL... couldn't type that with a straight face.

I think nature has to be preserved in a very fast rate.Scientists warn us that this global warming will definitely affect the coastal areas and also has already made a hole in the Ozone layer which may lead to skin problems .The ultraviolet rays from the sun might directly attack us.Nature has to be kept clean otherwise we may have to face big nature disaster and lots of problems to the existance of the human race.I wish the Government enforces strich rules on Pollution control in Vehicles and in factories so that we might be able to controk, the pollution to a large extent.

So what should we do about the volcanos, geysers and other naturally occuring pollution? They spew far more greenhouse and other noxious gasses into the atmosphere than man ever could.
