We just got back home and boy I missed my home alot. But we did have fun! My suggestions are take at least $2,000 with you.We took $900.00 and we came home with 20 dollars.Rent a cabin, it's great! And veiws are wonderful.Hot tub is nice as well. When walking up and down the streets of Gatilburg,or Pigeon Forge, listen to what hte people offer you. Some will offer you free tickets to the comedy places or Dollywood, or 100 bucks. Just to listen to some person and to take a hour long tour of a great resort there local. They want you to buy into time shares. All you have to do at the end of the tour is say no thank you. And there you go.But if I had them oney I would have bought into it .It would be worth it to me.Oh yeah, don't eat at big resturants while there, unless it's only just for you and a honey, kids will cost you extra! We spent 40 to 80 dollars on two big places to eat. Also buy package deals when you want to go see something like Ripley's Believe It Or Not places. We did, it was cheaper. We went to Ripley's Museum and the Aquarium, and the Haunted Adventure. And lil' kids shouldn't go to the Haunted places.Cause my lil' girl who can watch any scarey movie just fine, was scared to death, she almost tore my shirt off,and I had to drag her with me, with her head and face buried in my back! But my older two kids loved it.And check out Cades Cove, the nature Reserve they have there, it was nice, ,it's a 11 mile loop to drive and you can see wild deer, and turkey and bears among other things. And it you plan on going to the top of the Smokey Mt. and then maybe to Cherokee on the other side in NC. , get gas before you go up the MT. !
We didn't and we went up the MT. and down to Cherokee and then back up and over to Cades Cove and we almost ran out of gas.So the last gas statiopn it says on a sign there, last chance for gas, they wasn't kidding! But we did have a blast!

I'm glad you had so much fun in the Smokies. Reading your discussion made me realize how much I take living so close to the mountains forgranted. I only live about 45 minutes away and I rarely go up there. Although in June my dad came in town from Arizona and stayed in Gatlinburg so I spent a lot of time up there visiting him.
You've got a lot of great advice in here for visitors. It certainly can get very expensive in Gatlinburg very fast. With the eating out and attractions you can spend a lot of money in no time. Did you all get the chance to go hiking while you were there? There are some amazing hiking trails.

no real hiking. But we did alot of walking in Gatlinburg.I think we walked evey inch of that town!LOL!But maybe next vacation I will.I do love to hike.No so in the early fall months, with all the leaves changing. It is then so pretty in the woods. And if any one would love the "Old West" go to Maggie Valley ,NC, to Ghost Town In The Sky'there they have rides and you see the old west.It is great there too.Check it out on www.ghosttowninthesky.com
and it cheap to get into.More so than other theme parks.
