How to fix the USB on my leptop ?

is there any way to fix my USB on my leptop USB 2.0 i dont know what it is but the usb ports just dont work the windows cant find the usb ports and when i try to put something in so it shows that i have new hardware found but it cant be installed can i just replace them some how ? can i buy it some where a port ?? i dont know even how he looks like outside the motherboard... im not an expert !!!

Sounds like you might need to reinstall the USB drivers. at least that is where I would start. as for replacing them you cant they are attached to the motherboard and the problem might not be the port itself but the chips that they control the USB ports. So the best thing mentioned prior to this is the devicemanager and possibly re-installing the drivers for the USB ohh also make sure that the BIOS has USB enabled.
