Hello Mylotters, My father has been advising this to me many of the times from my childhood, and so I got used to this also. I usually dont depend on other for any of my activities. How about you ? Do you feel the same ? Or you always need someone to help you? Share your thoughts.

Hello senthil2k. I must say that I've been taught the same self suffiency lessons. For most of my life I have followed the advice, but my activities have a tendency of changing over time. When my daughter was in school, I got involved in more group activities and learned that you can get more done (faster) if there are more hands working on certain tasks. My daughter is out of school now, and my activities have again changed, but the lessons I've learned about working together mesh quite well with the self suffiency lessons. ;)

I didnt mean Team work is not useful. There are works that HAVE to be done as a team. For eg., constructing a house etc. But for the simple jobs for ourselves, such as purchasing new things etc., we can do it by ourself instead of depending on others. Thanks for your commments.

Yes, I would imagine the "activity" would make a difference.

Don't depend on others not because they will depend on you but because you will become weak and unable to stand alone in this World and in times of need when there is no one to help you might break, So become self reliant and strong - you will even feel better for that.

I try not to depend on anyone else either because it is too easy to be let down. I don't take the attitude that everyone will always let me down, but I like to be prepared for anything.
